Summary: Breaking through, really!!!!!

Colossians 2:14

Took it out of the way

Intro: what stands between us and God?

1: Sin

a) to know to do right and not do it ( James 4:17 )

b) it separates us from God the father

c) it hinders the power of the Holy Spirit in our lives

d) it brings pain and sorrow to us and too those around us

Point: We all have a sin nature, Job 14:1 says man that is born of a woman is of a few days and full of trouble.. I’m pretty much certain we are all born of a woman I don’t think I see any aliens or celestial beings in the church today. Sin stands between us and God the father, God the son being Jesus Christ is our advocate, he is our sacrifice, our perfection, he and he alone bridges the gap!!!!!

2: How does Christ do all this??

a) Calvary

b) The cross

c) John 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave hi sonly begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life…

d) 2 Cor 5:21 made him to be sin for us who knew no sin, that we might be made the righteousness of God in him..

Point: it’s always been love, the love that God has for all mankind. A way of escape, an opportunity to spend eternity in the riches and graces of heaven with the Lord, 1 John 4:10 herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his son to be the propitiation for our sins.

He’s the appeasement; he brings us to a state of peace and quiet, tranquility, and calmness in our hearts and minds. He ends the conflict between us and God.

Body: Blotting out Blotting: (grk) exaleipho

a) blotting- to anoint or wash in every part

b) to wipe off or wipe away, to obliterate or erase

c) we are washed in the blood of the lamb

d) we’ve been anointed by the Holy Spirit

point: John 3:3 Jesus said except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. Only salvation by faith through grace in the Lord Jesus Christ; the blood of Christ, 1 John 1:7 but if we walk in the light as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another and the blood of Christ cleanses us from all sin.

He washed my sins away…..

2: Handwriting of ordinances

a) Rev 12:10 calls Satan the accuser of the brethren

b) Jesus said in John 8:44 he is a liar and the father of it

c) The devil is keeping track of all our past mistakes and faults

Ordinance- the rules and requirements of the law,

Point: Lucifer, Satan that old serpent he’s seeking to devour you and I. he has a plan to accuse, abuse and refuse you mercy, grace, forgiveness, and love. The Lord Jesus Christ obliterated all that!!!!

3: Contrary to us

a) opposed or adversary

b) as a lost person you are contrary to God

c) a Christian should seek to remove anything contrary to God

Point: Sometimes we hold onto things that we should have let go of along time ago, their contrary to the purpose and will of God for our lives. He blotted out all of that, why would we try to carry it around with us??

4: Took it out of the way

a) he removed it

b) knocked the wall down, opened the room of your heart

c) that thing, that person, that time or place, it’s not s hindrance or a hang-up anymore

Point: hurt, pain, regret, anger, shame, sins of the past, disappointment, fear, doubt, anything that would or could separate us from the love of Christ. He took it out of the way. What’d you do with it? It’s as simple as surrender, give it too him.

Closing: What did he do with it?

1: Nailed it to his cross

a) covered by Calvary

b) Lord of lords, King of kings on the tree for you and me

c) He carried it all to the cross

Conclusion: Colossians 3:1-2 seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth... Let the rest go, Jesus commissioned us to go and seek out the lost, to show them the love of God and to give them the gospel, to be about the father’s business, to love God above everything else, and love each other as we love ourselves.

What’s holding you back?????????
