This sermon explores God's guidance during good times, His grace in times of grief, and His greatness in our spiritual growth, emphasizing trust in His wisdom.
Good morning, beloved family in Christ. It is indeed a beautiful day that the Lord has made, and we are gathered here to rejoice and be glad in it. We are here to celebrate the glory of God's guidance, grace, and greatness in our lives, as we seek to understand His word and His will for us.
The renowned preacher Charles Spurgeon once said, "A Bible that's falling apart usually belongs to someone who isn't." It's a poignant reminder of the power and purpose found within the pages of the Holy Scripture.
In our good days, God's guidance is like a compass, pointing us in the right direction. It's like a map, showing us the way. It's like a light, illuminating our path. It's like a shepherd, leading us to green pastures and still waters. It's like a father, holding our hand and walking with us every step of the way.
God guides us through His Word. The Bible is not just a book. It's a love letter from God to us. It's a guidebook for life. It's a treasure chest full of wisdom, truth, and promises. It's a mirror that reflects who we are and who we can be in Christ. It's a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path. When we read the Bible, when we meditate on its words, when we apply its teachings to our lives, we are allowing God to guide us. We are allowing His Word to shape our thoughts, our words, our actions, our attitudes, our values, our priorities, our decisions, our relationships, our entire lives.
God guides us through His Spirit. When we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior, the Holy Spirit comes to live in us. He is our Comforter, our Counselor, our Helper, our Advocate, our Intercessor, our Strengthener, our Standby. He guides us into all truth. He reminds us of everything Jesus has said. He convicts us of sin, righteousness, and judgment. He bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God. He intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words. He helps us in our weakness. He gives us power, love, and self-discipline. He produces in us love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. When we listen to the Holy Spirit, when we yield to His leading, when we obey His promptings, we are allowing God to guide us. We are allowing His Spirit to transform us from the inside out.
God guides us through His providence. Providence is God's invisible hand at work in the world. It's His sovereign control over all things. It's His perfect timing. It's His unerring accuracy. It's His meticulous attention to detail. It's His infinite wisdom and knowledge. It's His boundless power and authority. It's His unfailing love and faithfulness. When we trust in God's providence, when we rest in His sovereignty, when we surrender to His will, we are allowing God to guide us. We are allowing His providence to orchestrate our circumstances, our situations, our opportunities, our challenges, our victories, our defeats, our joys, our sorrows, our beginnings, our endings, our everything.
God guides us through His people. God has placed us in a community of believers for a reason. He wants us to encourage each other, to support each other, to pray for each other, to bear each other's burdens, to rejoice with those who rejoice, to weep with those who weep, to spur each other on toward love and good deeds, to teach and admonish each other with all wisdom, to build each other up in the most holy faith, to live in harmony with each other, to be kind and compassionate to each other, to forgive each other, to love each other deeply from the heart. When we interact with God's people, when we learn from their experiences, when we follow their godly examples, when we heed their wise counsel, we are allowing God to guide us. We are allowing His people to influence our lives in a positive, godly way.
