To Make a Vow What is it to make a vow? WASHINGTON - The Supreme Court ruled Tuesday that a law meant to punish pornographers that peddle dirty pictures to Web-surfing kids is probably an unconstitutional muzzle on free speech. Eccl 5.When thou vowest a vow, defer not to pay it. What is a vow? A solemn promise; as the vows of unchangeable love and fidelity. In a moral and religious sense, vows are promises to God, as they appeal to God to witness their sincerity, and the violation of them is a most heinous offense. Haven’t we all taken a vow to God, when we accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior? Doesn’t Gods word demand that we believe and follow after Jesus, doesn’t His word mean the truth in all things to us, and the answer is, yes. The Bible is not just words that we hear on Sunday or Wednesday night, it is a way of life for us, or at least it should be. But many are trying to use Gods word for political advantage, many are saying that one man is better than another and ignoring the word of God. Righteousness in man? , Not according to Gods word. Psa 14:3 They are all gone aside, they are all together become filthy: there is none that doeth good, no, not one. Our righteousness comes from God, His righteousness clothes us. Our witness for God must be one of sincerity and truth. Our vow to God was to believe in His Son Jesus and our Vow to Jesus was to believe and follow His commandments. Unrighteousness is abounding in the world and has started its way into the world of Christianity, why? We are becoming lax in our perception of what righteousness is.
Isa 64:6 But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.
Job 15:14 What is man, that he should be clean? And he, which is born of a woman, that he should be righteous? The Bible tells us that we are to give honor to whom honor is due; we honor our leadership but not the unrighteousness that man inhabits. Can we say with a true heart that one man, born of woman, is better than another, and if we do, do we reject the word of God? Harsh questions, but questions that we must all answer for ourselves. We may be, the terminal generation that will see many signs and wonders upon the earth, we must be prepared to make choices that will affect our destiny and the destiny of others. The church that Jesus established was not and is not a political establishment or power, many say that Jesus stayed out of the worldly affaires of the Roman laws governing the Israelites and Sanhedron, but wish to become involved in the political climate of today. These things beget strife within the church. We are not a political power but as Jesus established a Spiritual Power. John 18:36 Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence. Is the church trying to establish a kingdom upon this world, is it trying to override the express will of Jesus, I hope not. WE are in the world but not of the world. Any thing that begets strife, confusion, hatred we are to remain separated from. Act 19:29 And the whole city was filled with confusion: and having caught Gaius and Aristarchus, men of Macedonia, Paul’s companions in travel, they rushed with one accord into the theatre.
Act 19:40 For we are in danger to be called in question for this day’s uproar, there being no cause whereby we may give an account of this concourse. When confusion comes in we go out, man will argue with man with no end in sight, just to prove his side of the story. Are we saved because of our righteousness, No; we are saved by faith thru Grace. Remember let God be true and every man a liar. Don’t put your trust in man but rather put your trust in God. Job 15:15 Behold, he putteth no trust in his saints; yea, the heavens are not clean in his sight.
Job 15:16 How much more abominable and filthy is man, which drinketh iniquity like water? If it wasn’t for the sacrifice of Jesus, we would be condemned to an eternity in the lake of fire. The world is trying to get us all involved in its affaires, saying that "You can make a difference, you can change things, you can avert world war by voting for this man and that man and this law and that law." Hypocrites all, they have no idea of Gods word, they don’t understand prophecy, they don’t understand what Jesus has told us, or they just don’t believe it.
