Introduction:

Let me start you with a humor:

"Have you ever noticed how mansions have so many rooms that some of them seem to forget their purpose? You walk in, and there's a room full of random items, like exercise equipment, unused musical instruments, and a treadmill doubling as a clothes hanger. It's like the mansion is saying, 'I wanted to be impressive, but now I'm just a storage unit with an attitude!'"

Imagine standing on a hilltop, gazing at the vast expanse before you. The sun gently kisses your skin, and a cool breeze brushes against your face. In that moment, you experience a profound sense of peace and belonging. You feel at home. But what if I told you that the truest home, the ultimate mansion, awaits us not on a hilltop in this world, but in the loving embrace of our Savior, Jesus Christ?

Today, we delve into the words of Jesus found in John 14:1-3, words that offer comfort, hope, and the promise of an eternal home. Let us journey together, unpacking the profound spiritual concepts Jesus presents to us.

Let me share with you about this Authors says about John 14.

"John 14:1-3 is a passage of immense comfort and hope, spoken by Jesus Himself to reassure His disciples. As Leon Morris, a biblical scholar, aptly puts it, 'These verses form the most precious passage in the New Testament for those who face death, especially for those who mourn the loss of believing loved ones.'" - Leon Morris

"In John 14:1-3, Jesus assures His disciples of His impending departure and promises to prepare a place for them. F.F. Bruce, a renowned New Testament scholar, highlights the significance of these verses by saying, 'This passage speaks of Jesus as the Way, the Truth, and the Life, emphasizing the exclusivity and sufficiency of Christ for salvation.'" - F.F. Bruce

"John 14:1-3 contains Jesus' comforting words that He is going to prepare a place for His disciples in His Father's house. D.A. Carson, a respected biblical scholar, comments on the impact of this passage, stating, 'These verses provide a glimpse of the future hope believers have in Christ—a heavenly dwelling in the presence of God, secured by Christ's redemptive work.'" - D.A. Carson

Jesus wants to give you a home in the palm of his hand right now…in this world and in our struggles.

Life can often leave us feeling weary, burdened by the weight of our responsibilities, anxieties, and sins. We long for a place of rest, a refuge from the chaos. But Jesus reminds us that we need not navigate this world alone. In John 14:18, He declares, "No, I will not abandon you as orphans—I will come to you."

Jesus offers us His presence, His companionship. He invites us to find solace in Him, to find our home in the palm of His hand. Just as a child finds security in the embrace of a loving parent, we can find safety, comfort, and peace in the loving arms of our Heavenly Father. In the midst of exhaustion and turmoil, Jesus offers rest to the weary soul.

He beckons us in Matthew 11:28-30, saying, "Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest... For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light." Jesus longs to lift our burdens, to ease our weariness, and to guide us through life's challenges. When we surrender our worries, our anxieties, and our struggles to Him, we find true rest and renewal.

To abide in the shelter of the Most High, as described in Psalm 91:1, is to find a safe and sheltered place. Jesus invites us to dwell there, under the shadow of the Almighty, where we can experience His peace and protection. By fixing our minds on Him, as Isaiah 26:3 encourages, we can find true and lasting peace even amidst the storms of life.

Jesus wants you to be at home with Him in heaven.

As we journey through life, we may encounter moments when we yearn for a better day, for a place where pain, sorrow, and darkness no longer hold sway. The apostle Paul, sitting in a prison cell, expressed this longing in Philippians 3:20: "But we are citizens of heaven, where the Lord Jesus Christ lives. And we are eagerly waiting for Him to return as our Savior."

Heaven, our eternal home, awaits us. It is a place of unimaginable beauty, where all darkness is erased, and everything associated with pain, suffering, and sin is no more. In heaven, we will experience the fullness of God's presence, eternal satisfaction, and perfect holiness.

Consider the words of John 14:2-3, where Jesus assures His disciples, "In my Father's house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also."
