Summary: A sermonette concerning a personal house cleaning.
TIME IS TICKING AWAY
PSALM 90:12
Introduction:
1. This morning I have just a few minutes.
a. How many times in your life have you felt that you
didn’t have enough time to get something
accomplished?
b. Mothers and grandmothers, how many times have
you not had enough time?
2. Saturday before last, we were having company over for
lunch and with a very busy Revival schedule and Kim’s
school schedule and with three children we were
scrambling to get the house cleaned and lunch ready.
3. Life is often like this and as our text tells us, we should
use our time wisely, because we don’t know how much
time we have.
a. Read text.
4. I want to use this last couple of minutes for you to take a
very quick, urgent inventory of your spiritual house.
a. In a booklet titled "My Heart- Christ’s Home", it
describes the areas of life as the rooms of a house.
b. This inventory is in the bulletin and I want you to
grade each room as follows:
A = excellent rating.
B = good rating.
C = passing, but needs a little dusting.
D = barely passing, needs a lot of cleaning.
F = I am not a Christian, I will fail on this inventory.
I. Library
This room is your mind - what you allow to go into it and
come out of it.
It is the "control room" of the entire house.
II. Dining Room
Appetites, desires, those things that your mind and spirit feed
on for nourishment.
III. Drawing Room
This room is where you draw close to God, seek time with
Him daily, not just in times of distress or need.
IV. Workshop
This room is where your gifts, talents, skills are put to work
for God... by the power of the Spirit.
V. Rumpus Room
The social area of your life- the things you do to amuse
yourself and others.
VI. Hall Closet
The one secret place that no one knows about, but is a real
stumbling block in your walk in the Spirit.
Conclusion:
1. Time is short, you need to act now.
2. If you had to take a "F" because you have never asked
Jesus to be your Savior, you have never allowed Jesus into
your heart’s home; He is knocking at your heart’s door and
waiting patiently for you to let Him in.
"Behold, I stand at the door and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come into him, and sup with him, and he with Me."
a. Now is the time.
b. You may not have another opportunity.
3. Christians today is the time to allow Christ to clean you
up.
a. Today is the time to let Him clean up those hidden
closets.
b. Today is the time to allow Christ first place in your
life.
4. Don’t wait until your time is up, act now.
