Summary: Stewarship is not just a matter of money...have you considered your time?

One of the greatest areas of stewardship that is overlooked by most Christians, is the stewardship of your time.

Matthew 6:33 (NCV)

The thing you should want most is God’s kingdom and doing what God wants. Then all these other things you need will be given to you.

We All Have Priorities. Our priorities get our best efforts. We make time for the things that are important to us.

What gets your time?

Stewardship of Priorities

Seek Ye First The Kingdom of God…

Knowing God’s priorities – Matthew 22:36-39

Matthew 22:36-39 (NKJV)

“Teacher, which is the great commandment in the law?”

Jesus said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’”

What Are God’s Priorities?

1. Loving God with all of your heart, soul, mind and strength.

2. Loving others as you would yourself.

The Example of Jesus

1. Making time for God – Matthew 14:23; Luke 2:46-49

Matthew 14:23 (NKJV)

And when He had sent the multitudes away, He went up on the mountain by Himself to pray. Now when evening came, He was alone there.

Luke 2:46-49 (NKJV)

Now so it was that after three days they found Him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the teachers, both listening to them and asking them questions. And all who heard Him were astonished at His understanding and answers.

So when they saw Him, they were amazed, and His mother said to Him, “Son, why have You done this to us? Look, Your father and I have sought you anxiously.”

And He said to them, “Why did you seek Me? Did you not know that I must be about my Father’s business?”

The Example of Jesus

2. Making time for others – Luke 4:40; Luke 4:42-43; John 13:4-5

Luke 4:40 (CEV)

After the sun had set, people with all kinds of diseases were brought to Jesus. He put his hands on each one of them and healed them.

Luke 4:42-43 (CEV)

The next morning Jesus went out to a place where he could be alone, and crowds came looking for him. When they found him, they tried to stop him from leaving.

But Jesus said, “People in other towns must hear the good news about God’s kingdom. That’s why I was sent.”

John 13:4-5 (NLT)

So he got up from the table, took off his robe, wrapped a towel around his waist, and poured water into a basin. Then he began to wash the disciples’ feet and to wipe them with the towel he had around him.
