Throw Out Your End Time Calendar

Mark 13:32 But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father.

Despite this verse, we are routinely exposed to someone that declares they know when Jesus will return. One day, someone might actually guess it just like one might win a lottery, but they will not have had the date revealed to him/her. If Jesus does not know, no one here is more loved by the Father to be given that knowledge so ditch people who make that claim.

Many Christians believe that there will be six thousand years of man's history before the Millennium making seven thousand years total before eternity begins. Where we are on that timeline depends on which calendar you use. According to Bishop Ussher, the world was created in 4004 BC so this is how we have ended up with this year being 2021. If He had been accurate, all the Y2K panic would have been validated and the Church would have been Raptured in 1993 and we would be in year 14 of the Millennium. So the Bishop was off a bit.

According to the Jewish calendar, the earth was created in 3761 BC making this the year 5782. If they are accurate, we have 218 years before we are at six thousand making all the hullabaloo over the end and the Rapture being near totally incorrect.

Now, many will wonder how in the world could things get any worse or the signs be more prevalent? Well, Savonarola in the 15th century thought things were pretty bad as have many over the centuries as things have gotten worse as predicted. So, it could get far more worse and the signs even more prevalent in 218 years if the Jewish calendar is correct and we are correct in thinking that the Trib starts at year 5993.

Then we have God's calendar and His is the correct one. Hence, we need not worry about ours. John Wesley said it best when he said that we should plan our lives like Jesus will come in a hundred years and lie our lives like He may come tonight. Indeed, we may be with Him by tonight by death so knowing what size shoes the Anti-Christ wears and if he has garlic breath will be of no consequence to us. If our study of prophecy does not change us we are merely being curious or nosey about the future.

Seek God and holiness in the present and the future will not be scary nor the time of His coming important. Maranatha!
