3 Benefits of Christ Living in Us

Have you ever heard of the buddy system? It’s used in schools, at daycares or in families to keep kids from getting lost. Children are taught to stay with their buddy and help each other go the right way.

But what do we do when we don’t have a buddy or friend? How do we avoid getting lost?

Today, getting lost may mean you’re not sure how to move through a tough situation, or you may feel alone with no one to talk to.

In the message series 21st Century Temples, we learn how we're temples of the living God. Christ lives in us through the Holy Spirit—our ever-faithful friend.

But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you. John 14:26 ESV

1.) We Have a Faithful Friend

The Holy Spirit will never leave you.

Once you’ve asked Christ to be your Lord and Savior, He dwells within you always through the Holy Spirit. He is always there guiding you. When you’re facing a challenging conversation at home or work, hurting due to the loss of a loved one, or celebrating a major milestone, He is with you.

Through life’s triumphs and tough times, the Holy Spirit gives us peace and wisdom.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness… Galatians 5:22 NIV

2.) We Have a Noticeable Peace

Walking hand in hand with the Holy Spirit gives us the power to positively influence others. Friends, family members, and colleagues often begin to notice our peacefulness.

By welcoming Christ in your heart, a powerful light fills your path. And because you are walking with such confidence, others may notice and ask:

“How on earth can you be so peaceful when it seems like the world is crumbling around us?”

That’s an opportunity to share God’s Word with those around you.

Witnessing to others after receiving the Holy Spirit is just what Jesus intended. Spreading the Gospel was His final instruction to the disciples before ascending to heaven.

“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” Acts 1:8 NIV

3.) We Have Christ in Our Daily Lives

Even as we go through seemingly mundane tasks, Christ’s Spirit is with us every step of the way.

We encourage you to pick one day this week to focus on the peace in these moments that comes with Christ dwelling in you. When you receive challenging news with grace, that’s the power of the Spirit. When you take a deep breath instead of losing your temper after your child or spouse makes a big mess in the kitchen, that’s the power of the Spirit.

Jesus doesn’t pick His moments to show up. He is always there.

Through the Spirit, He dwells in us and guides us back to God’s love if we begin to stray. The Holy Spirit is the friend who will find us if we become lost.

Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, “This is the way; walk in it.” Isaiah 30:21 NIV

If you’d like to commit your life to Christ and receive the gift of the Spirit, let us know. Our team will pray for you to receive the joy, peace, patience and kindness that the Spirit delivers. www.thebridgechurch.us
