Ephesians 2:8-10

Our goal this morning is to understand –

THE GRACE OF GOD

We are saved by grace— WHAT IS GRACE?

Grace is God’s power in your weakness—

Grace is God’s power in you to be and do– What you don’t have the power to be or do

Some have called grace unmerited favor----Some have said grace covers sin

The bible says – LOVE COVERS A MULTITUDE OF SIN– Greater LOVE has no man than this.

Unmerited favor— IS MERCY— NOT GRACE

Grace CAN’T be UNMERITED FAVOR— I’LL PROVE IT LATER IN SERMON

Now that you know what Grace isn’t & what grace is —

Let’s look at— 4 Amazing Facts About Amazing Grace

1. You are Saved by Grace —

There is nothing you can do ---- Say the right things, dress right, act right, be good

“If I just live a good life”– A good life according to who?

Hitler died thinking he had a Good life

Actors in Hollywood— Scientology— Think they live a good live

Things are good– I got a girlfriend— My wife don’t even know it

My kids got in trouble – I spanked em good

The Christian life has never been about GOOD— It’s about PERFECTION

Grace is God’s power in you— WHERE YOU HAVE NO POWER

That’s why this scripture say— SAVED BY GRACE– You can’t save yourself

How do we get this power---- BELIEVE IN JESUS

Romans 3:24 being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus

Acts 4:12 Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”

Only way to be saved— IS BELIEVE IN JESUS— GOD”S GRACE SAVES YOU

YOU ARE SAVED BY GRACE

2. You can fall from Grace— YOU REALLY CAN

Shane you always say— We can’t lose our salvation

You can’t lose salvation— YOU CAN FALL FROM GRACE

You need to know – The greatest enemy of GRACE— is THE LAW– 10comm

If you watch the some TV— They’ll tell you we are to live by the 10 Comm

I don’t have anything against the 10 Comm– The problem is Christians know what BIBLE SAYS

1 Cor 15:16 The sting of death is sin, the strength of sin is the law

Galatians 3:10 For as many who are under the works of the law, are under a curse

Romans 7:5 Sinful passions are aroused by the law

Hebrews 8: 13 Calling Jesus the new Covenant– Means he made the 1st one obsolete

John 1:17 For the law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.

So it’s clear following the law — CAN’T SAVE US— Can’t MAKE us Righteous

We are righteous—

2 Corinthians 5:21 For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

1 Timothy 1:9 The law is not made for the righteous

OK SHANE WE GET IT!!!– What does this have to do with Falling from GRACE

Galatians 5: 1 Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage. 2 Indeed I, Paul, say to you that if you become circumcised, Christ will profit you nothing. 3 And I testify again to every man who becomes circumcised that he is a debtor to keep the whole law. 4 You have become estranged from Christ, you who attempt to be justified by law; you have fallen from grace.

When you quit trusting in Jesus– And start looking to the Law, performace, acts, works, RELIGION— You have fallen from grace

WHY?— You think you have the power to do it

GODS GRACE IS POWER TO DO – WHAT U DON’T HAVE POWER TO DO

The law can only tell you your dirty— Grace will clean you up

That’s why people quit go to church— ALL they hear is how dirty they are

3. Your sin can never out jump GOD’S GRACE–

Romans 5: 20 The law entered that the offense might abound. But where sin abounded, grace abounded much more, 21 so that as sin reigned in death, even so grace might reign through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

The question isn’t if I sin— It’s WHEN I sin— Am I still saved

Say a cuss word before you die— HELL

Have a heart attack while your in a bar— HELL

We need to live lives that are pleasing to God—

What pleased God was His SON dying and rising again

From now till the end of time know this

YOU HAVE NO SIN

Your sin was give to Jesus on the CROSS— BURIED, DEAD FOREVER

Christ cleansed you from all unrighteousness

You are clean – You are forgiven— You are God’s child forever & ever
