This Kind Of Problem!

THIS KIND! THIS KIND! THIS KIND!

Mark 9:29”Jesus he said to the disciples, "This kind cannot be driven out by anything but prayer."

The disciples were puzzled why they could not drive the demon out? Jesus clearly said: ‘pray more!’ Actually, I guess they were basking under the anointing of their Master Jesus! However, why did the disciples not realize their lack of prayer while dealing with a tough situation in public is a conundrum for me! Many of are seldom convicted of our spiritual barrenness! I’m speaking to someone out there!

Friend, you cannot flex your muscles and pray for cancer if you had not already prayed enough for headache! Jesus said, ‘this kind cannot be driven out by anything but prayer!’ THIS KIND! Did you notice the phrase? There are certain KIND of problems in our life that requires MUCH prayers! The disciples could not handle the demon because they were not loaded with enough prayers to handle the tough problem! Pray much in advance! I repeat in advance!

People love to throng worship festivals, crusades, healing crusades but there’s not much ‘prayer festivals’ organized. Anybody listening? We love to be spectators and silent listeners rather than be vibrant prayer warriors! Prayer festival demands that we participate in the prayer and get involved in the intercession; how many want to do that, though! Years back, while working for a multinational bank, I was called to lead a prayer group during a luncheon meeting organized by some software professionals. I was shocked by the scanty crowd and the leader said people bunked because it was going to be only prayer. Ah! Only prayer? People expect ‘entertainment’ during Gospel meetings where the preacher is the clown entertaining the audience. Mere listeners no doers! Now, when calamity strikes their life, they run helter-skelter pleading for prayers, why not learn to do that in advance? You can request for prayer but not shove the burden on them and relax in the arm chair with popcorn! The onus is on you when thunder and lightning strikes your roof! Prostrate before God! There is no easy way out!

I know of a lady who has tremendous problems in her life, illness, addiction and much more; yet, she would sit and write prayer requests to be handed over to prayer warriors rather than sit and pray with them. She would give excuses! I was shocked at her spiritual lethargy, nonchalance and indifference towards prayer. I have seen people with urgent needs walk away while the prayer is on! I wonder why? I wonder why? When was the last time, you took a day off from work and prayed? Tell me. We take a day off for a birthday party but do we do the same and sit in His presence? When there are MUCH problems it demands MUCH prayer!
