THIS IS WHAT I SEEK
PSALM 27:4
Rev. Michael Fogaras
¡§One thing I ask of the LORD, this is what I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD and to seek him in his temple.
If there is one thing in my walk with God I desire most it is that I would come to know Him more.
That I would seek Him above all things, because all things, are below Him.
There are three things I believe we as Christians need in our journey to glory.
„« Spiritual Desire
„« Love for God¡¦s House
„« Spiritual Vision
As we look at the Word of God together it is my prayer and hope that the Holy Spirit of would reveal to us this morning a real and passionate desire to seek God in His house and to gaze upon His beauty.
I. SPIRITUAL DESIRE
Psalm 63:1, O God, you are my God, earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you, my body longs for you, in a dry and weary land where there is no water.
Psalm 42:1-2, As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, O God. 2My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When can I go and meet with God?
Isaiah 26:9, My soul yearns for you in the night; in the morning my spirit longs for you. When your judgments come upon the earth, the people of the world learn righteousness.
II. LOVE FOR GOD¡¦S HOUSE
Psalm 65:4, Blessed are those You choose and bring near to live in Your courts! We are filled with the good things of Your house, of Your holy temple.
„Ï The love for God¡¦s house begins with a devotion to God¡¦s house.
1 Chronicles 29:3, Besides, in my devotion to the temple of my God I now give my personal treasures of gold and silver for the temple of my God, over and above everything I have provided for this holy temple
„Ï It¡¦s not the job; it¡¦s where the job is to be done.
Psalm 84:10, Better is one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere; I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of the wicked.
Doorkeeper: to wait at the threshold.
III. SPIRITUAL VISION ~ OPEN OUR EYES LORD!
„Ï Elijah¡¦s prayer for his servant
2 Kings 6:17, And Elisha prayed, ¡§O LORD, open his eyes so he may see.¡¨ Then the LORD opened the servant¡¦s eyes, and he looked and saw the hills full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.
„Ï Purity is important for Godly vision
Matthew 5:8, Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.
„Ï Only Believer¡¦s can posses this vision
John 14:19, Before long, the world will not see me anymore, but you will see me. Because I live, you also will live. 20On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you.
