Summary: First he had manipulated the birthright from his brother Esau. Then he stole his father’s blessing. Jacob was on his way to greatness. It was as exactly as his mother had told him She had been told by the Lord that the elder would serve the younger.

Genesis 28:10-19-Now Jacob went out from Beersheba and went toward Haran.

So he came to a certain place and stayed there all night, because the sun had set. And he took one of the stones of that place and put it at his head, and he lay down in that place to sleep. Then he dreamed, and behold, a ladder was set up on the earth, and its top reached to heaven; and there the angels of God were ascending and descending on it.

And behold, the Lord stood above it and said: “I am the Lord God of Abraham your father and the God of Isaac; the land on which you lie I will give to you and your descendants.

Also your descendants shall be as the dust of the earth; you shall spread abroad to the west and the east, to the north and the south; and in you and in your seed all the families of the earth shall be blessed.

Behold, I am with you and will keep you wherever you go, and will bring you back to this land; for I will not leave you until I have done what I have spoken to you.”

Then Jacob awoke from his sleep and said, “Surely the Lord is in this place, and I did not know it.” And he was afraid and said, “How awesome is this place! This is none other than the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven!”

Then Jacob rose early in the morning, and took the stone that he had put at his head, set it up as a pillar, and poured oil on top of it.

And he called the name of that place Bethel; but the name of that city had been Luz previously.

First he had manipulated the birthright from his brother Esau. Then he stole his father’s blessing.

Jacob was on his way to greatness. It was as exactly as his mother had told him

She had been told by the Lord that the elder would serve the younger.

As inheriting this blessing you would be a person of authority.

You get to be praised, and prayed over.

The younger is going to serve you.

The line that Jesus is born thru

He gets all the privileges.

He gets all the rights.

But he's the one having to leave home.

He has to home, he has to leave his comfort zone.

Sin will take you farther than you want to go, cost more than your willing to pay.

He's got the blessing from God but he doesn't know how it's going happen.

That's like a lot of people today, they knew the promises of God but they know how to put them into effect.

He's fearful, nervous, anxious, lonely, upset

God is in this place, and I never knew it.

Jacob had come to the conclusion that if God was going to bless him it was going to be in the comforts of home.

He didn't feel the presents of God till he had run out of options.

Till he was all alone.

Till his energy was gone.

God is not only at his home, but He is going to be at his destination.

But not only that, He is going to be with him on the journey.

God reveals Himself to Jacob while he has a stone for a pillow.

God has to get you sometimes flat on your back before you will listen to Him.

I am afraid He is going to have to put you laying flat in some hospital bed with a hairy knuckle woman named Inga giving you a sponge bath, before you listen to Him.

He would rather speak to you as your laying on your Sealy posturepedic!

But you too comfortable, your to at ease, your to set in your ways!

Your to use to getting things your way! !

Nothing on earth that God in heaven doesn't see, and there's nothing in heaven that God can't get to you on earth.

God has all these angels, these messages, these helpers who have access to heaven and earth.

You may not be able to where God is, but God can get to where you are!!

He didn't get his answer till he rested!!

Some people think they are going to get ahead financial by working seven days a week.

If they would take one day a week and rest in the Lord!

Do it for 6 months and see if your not better off.

Sometimes God has to get you away from those people you are always leaning on, so you will start leaning on God!

God doesn't have any grandchildren!!!

Jacob rose- some people just want to rest, rest on his promises, but he got up and did something because of the promises.

He was afraid-Stop looking at what God wants you to do and start looking at the God who wants you to do it!!
