Focus Passage: I John 3:4-10

Supplemental Passage: Matthew 5:6 "Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.

Proverbs 21:2 Every man's way is right in his own eyes, But the LORD weighs the hearts.

Introduction: illustrations of thirst

I. Righteousness Defiled

a. Romans 3:23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,

II. Righteousness Revealed

a. Romans 1:16-17 For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. (17) For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, "BUT THE RIGHTEOUS man SHALL LIVE BY FAITH."

III. Righteousness Lived

a. Romans 3:22 even the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all those who believe; for there is no distinction;

b. God never alters the robe of righteousness to fit man; He changes the man to fit the robe.
