Summary: God is committed to the preservation of His people who remain connected with Him and believe the word of His promises.

There shall no Evil Befall thee

Study Text: Psalms 91:1-10

Introduction:

- Psalm 91 is God’s covenant of divine insurance, supernatural immunity, and heavenly security.

- It is not poetry for reading only; it is a promise for living. In verse 10, God makes a categorical, unconditional, supernatural declaration: There shall no Evil Befall thee.

- This is not the voice of a man. This is the decree of the Almighty.

- In a world filled with dangers, visible and invisible, God’s people need more than human protection.

- We need the Presence, Promise, and Power of God. Today, the Lord declares over you and your household: No evil shall befall you.

- To unpack this covenant promise, we consider it under three subheadings:

1. The Promise of Divine Preservation

2. The Power of Divine Protection

3. The Privilege of Divine Presence

1. The Promise of Divine Preservation

- God does not speak casually. When He says “no evil shall befall thee,” He is issuing a covenant guarantee backed by His power and reliability.

a. The Certainty of the Promise

- It does not say “may”, “might”, or “perhaps”. It says “shall” — a divine certainty. God cannot lie Numbers 23:19.

b. The Coverage of the Promise

- The word evil in Hebrew covers: harm, disaster, misfortune, injury, calamity, wickedness and demonic attacks

- This means:

No evil from man, no evil from hell, no evil from nature, no evil from sickness, and no evil from wickedness shall prevail over you.

c. The Condition of the Promise

- This promise anchors on verses 1 & 2:

“He that dwelleth…”

“I will say of the Lord…”

- Your dwelling (intimacy) and your declaring (confession) activate your defense.

- When you stay under His shadow and speak His word over your life, divine preservation becomes your daily reality.

2. The Power of Divine Protection

- God does not only promise, He performs. Divine protection is not theoretical; it is experiential.

a. Angelic Deployment Psalm 91:11–12:

- God assigns angels as heavenly bodyguards to His children.

- They lift, guide, block danger, scatter evil, and preserve destiny.

b. Supernatural Deliverance Verse 3:

- Even traps you did not see, God already destroyed.

c. Complete Coverage

- Verses 5–7 show protection from every dimension:

- Day attacks, Night arrows, Pestilence, Terror, Mass destruction, Hidden dangers

- Protection is not partial in God, it is total.

- Your portion is:

Though a thousand fall beside you, it shall not come near you.

- God is your Shield, your Refuge, your Strong Tower, your Fortress, your Deliverer.

3. The Privilege of Divine Presence

- The greatest protection is not what God gives, but where God is.

a. When God Is With You, Evil Cannot Reach You. Psalm 23:4

Presence prevents evil.

b. When God Is For You, None Can Oppose You Romans 8:31

- Every evil assignment dries up at the appearance of God.

c. When God Is In You, No Weapon Can Work Against You

Isaiah 54:17

- Even weapons already formed will fail.

d. When God Covers You, No Plague Can Enter Your Dwelling

- Plague means: epidemic, sickness, affliction, spiritual arrows, sudden tragedy.

- But verse 10 says:

“No plague shall come near your dwelling.”

Not near your house, not near your family, not near your children, not near your destiny.

Conclusion:

- The covenant of “No evil shall befall thee” is not an earthly insurance but a heavenly guarantee.

- Your life is hidden with Christ in God. Evil may roam, but it cannot reach you. Darkness may rise, but it cannot swallow you. Trouble may shake nations, but it cannot uproot you.

- You are divinely defended, divinely shielded, divinely surrounded.
