Plan for: Thanksgiving | Advent | Christmas
Encourage us to fully trust in God's wisdom and guidance rather than relying on our own understanding, as doing so will lead us on the right path in life.
Good morning, family! Today, we're diving deep into the heart of wisdom as presented in the book of Proverbs. We're going to explore Proverbs 3:5-6 and unpack what it truly means. These verses are a compass for how we ought to live our lives, leaning into God's wisdom and understanding, and knowing that if we do this, He will make our paths straight.
As A.W. Tozer once said, "Faith is the gaze of a soul upon a saving God." That's what we're striving for today, folks - to set our gaze upon God and trust Him wholeheartedly, seeking His wisdom and understanding in every aspect of our lives.
Let's read these verses together, shall we?
"Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”
Let's bow our heads in prayer.
Lord, we come to you this morning with open hearts, ready to receive your wisdom and understanding. We ask that you guide us in our journey towards trusting you fully. Help us not to lean on our own understanding, but to seek your will in all we do. We trust that you will guide us and make our paths straight. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
Now, let's dive in.
Trusting in the Lord with all our heart is a call to surrender, to give up our own understanding and control, and to place our complete trust in God. The heart, in biblical terms, often refers to the core of our being - our thoughts, emotions, desires, and decisions. Therefore, to trust in the Lord with all our heart means to trust Him with every part of our lives, with every fiber of our being.
An active, dynamic, and intimate relationship with God: It's not about blindly following a set of rules or doctrines, but about having a personal, living relationship with our Creator. It's about knowing Him, loving Him, and trusting Him in a deep, personal way. It's about letting go of our fears, doubts, and insecurities, and allowing God to take control. It's about surrendering our plans, dreams, and desires to Him, and trusting that His plans for us are far better than anything we could ever imagine.
Trusting Him in all circumstances, whether good or bad: It means trusting Him when things are going well, and we're on top of the world. But it also means trusting Him when we're in the middle of a storm, and we can't see the way out. It means trusting Him when we're faced with challenges, difficulties, and uncertainties. It means trusting Him when we're hurt, disappointed, or heartbroken. It means trusting Him even when we don't understand why certain things are happening in our lives.
Trusting Him even when it doesn't make sense: It means trusting Him even when our logic, reason, or understanding tells us otherwise. It means trusting Him even when everything around us seems to be falling apart. It means trusting Him even when our faith is tested, and our trust in Him is challenged. It means trusting Him even when we don't see any evidence of His presence or activity in our lives.
Not easy: It requires faith, courage, and perseverance. It requires a deep, personal relationship with God. It requires a willingness to let go of our own understanding, control, and security, and to place our complete trust in God. It requires a radical shift in our mindset, attitude, and perspective. It requires a deep, personal commitment to follow God, no matter what.
Seeking God's wisdom and understanding is not merely about acquiring knowledge or information, but it's about gaining a deep, profound understanding of God's ways and His will for our lives ... View this full PRO sermon free with PRO
