Plan for: Thanksgiving | Advent | Christmas
This sermon explores the profound love and divine timing of God's plan for redemption and our adoption as His children, as revealed in Galatians 4:4-7.
Good morning, beloved family. Our focus today is on the book of Galatians, specifically the verses 4 to 7 in chapter 4. This passage is a beacon of hope and a testament to God's divine timing and perfect plan. It speaks of the arrival of our Savior, the birth territory of the Messiah, and the profound theology of the divine plan.
Let’s read it together:
"But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons. And because you are sons, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying, 'Abba! Father!' So you are no longer a slave, but a son, and if a son, then an heir through God." - Galatians 4:4-7, ESV
These words echo with the resonance of divine love, the assurance of our place in God's family, and the promise of our inheritance as His children.
They remind us of the magnitude of God's love, a love so vast that He would send His only Son to Earth, to be born of a woman, to live under the law, and ultimately, to redeem us all.
As we prepare to delve deeper into this rich and enlightening passage, let us bow our heads in prayer.
Dear Heavenly Father, open our hearts and minds to Your word today. Help us to understand the depth of Your love, the perfection of Your timing, and the beauty of Your divine plan. Let the words of Galatians 4:4-7 resonate within us, reminding us of our place in Your family, and our inheritance as Your children. Guide us, Lord, as we strive to live according to Your will, and help us to be a beacon of Your love in the world. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
So, dear brothers and sisters, let’s step forward in faith, with open hearts and open minds, ready to receive the divine wisdom that awaits us in the sacred words of Galatians 4:4-7.
In the grand tapestry of God's divine plan, the arrival of His Son, our Savior, is a pivotal moment. It is a moment that was meticulously planned and perfectly timed. The phrase "But when the fullness of time had come" in Galatians 4:4-7, speaks to this divine timing.
The fullness of time refers to the perfect moment in history when all the conditions were right for the birth of Jesus. It was a time when the world was ready, both spiritually and physically, to receive the Savior. The Roman Empire had brought peace, a common language, and a system of roads that facilitated the spread of the Gospel. The Jewish people, under the oppression of Roman rule, were yearning for the Messiah. The stage was set, the players were in place, and the time was ripe for the arrival of the Savior.
This divine timing is not just about historical events and conditions. It is also about God's perfect understanding of human hearts and minds. He knew when we would be most receptive to His message of love and redemption. He knew when we would be most in need of a Savior. And so, He sent His Son at the perfect time, when the world was ready to receive Him, and when we were ready to accept Him.
The timing of the Savior's arrival also speaks to God's patience and long-suffering. He waited for the perfect moment to send His Son, even though it meant watching His creation suffer under the weight of sin and oppression. He waited because He knew that the perfect time would come, and that His plan would be fulfilled in His time, not ours.
God's divine timing is a testament to His sovereignty and wisdom. He sees the big picture, the grand tapestry of history, in a way that we cannot. He knows the end from the beginning, and He orchestrates events and circumstances with precision and purpose. His timing is always perfect, even when we don't understand it.
The timing of the Savior's arrival also has profound implications for our lives today. It reminds us that God is in control, that He has a plan, and that His timing is perfect. It assures us that He knows when we are ready to receive His blessings, His guidance, and His grace. It encourages us to trust in His timing, even when it doesn't align with our own.
