The Wind Of God's Mercy (3) Series

TEXT: 2 Samuel 9:6-8 (KJV)

"Now when Mephibosheth, the son of Jonathan, the son of Saul, was come unto David, he fell on his face, and did reverence. And David said, Mephibosheth. And he answered, Behold thy servant!

And David said unto him, Fear not: for I will surely shew thee kindness for Jonathan thy father's sake, and will restore thee all the land of Saul thy father; and thou shalt eat bread at my table continually.

And he bowed himself, and said, What is thy servant, that thou shouldest look upon such a dead dog as I am?"

THE WIND OF GOD'S MERCY - A PEACEFUL WIND

The wind of God's mercy blows wherever God wills. When God visits us with his mercy, we sometimes are lost for words. When the visiting party got to where Mephibosheth was dwelling and summoned him to the presence of the King, he must have been apprehensive. They may or may not have told him the King's intentions, but that would only have done little to assuage the whirlwind of thoughts swirling in his mind. Lamentations 3:22-23 says: "It is of the LORD’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness." The mercy and compassion of God will not fail concerning you in Jesus name. The wind of God's mercy is a peaceful wind, erasing all fears.

THE WIND OF GOD'S MERCY - A LIFTING WIND

Mephibosheth entered the presence of the King reverentially, presenting himself as a servant and left the palace with his dignity restored. Our God is the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. He is Alpha and Omega, the beginning and end of all things. When we humble ourselves before God, he will lift us up ( James 4:10). The mercy of God alleys our anxieties and restores our peace. When David saw Mephibosheth, he told him: "Fear not: for I will surely shew thee kindness for Jonathan thy father’s sake, and will restore thee all the land of Saul thy father; and thou shalt eat bread at my table continually" (2 Sam 9:7). To hear such wonderful words from the mouth of the King must have lifted his spirits and erased all the worries in his heart. The King of Kings is speaking to somebody even now: "...Fear not; I will help thee" (Isa 41:13). The wind of God's mercy will blow your way, render the help you need and lift you up in Jesus name.

THE WIND OF GOD'S MERCY - A

TRANFORMING WIND

When God's mercy locates us and declares divine favour upon us, the manifestation of it may be immediate or take a while. In Mephibosheth's case, it was instant. Ziba was instructed to implement the Kings order immediately. All the members of Ziba's household became Mephibosheth's servants. Everything belonging to Saul in Ziba's possession were handed over to Mephibosheth. He became the Prince he was meant to be (2 Sam 9:9-12). The pauper who was living in Lo-debar relocated to the city of Jerusalem and was a regular guest at King David's table. 2 Sam 9:13 concludes the story for us: "And Mephibosheth, who was crippled in both feet, lived in Jerusalem and ate regularly at the king’s table." The wind of God's mercy is blowing, it will locate you and restore all that you have lost in Jesus name. The wind of God's mercy transforms the lives of men.

PRAYER:

Father, visit my situation, let your wind of mercy blow upon my life and turn my life around for good in Jesus name.

CONCLUSION:

The Lord is my helper, I will wait on him until my help comes.
