The Wind Of God's Mercy (2) Series

TEXT: 2 Samuel 9:1-5 (NLT)

"One day David asked, 'Is anyone in Saul’s family still alive—anyone to whom I can show kindness for Jonathan’s sake?' He summoned a man named Ziba, who had been one of Saul’s servants. 'Are you Ziba?' the king asked.

'Yes sir, I am,'' Ziba replied. The king then asked him, 'Is anyone still alive from Saul’s family? If so, I want to show God’s kindness to them.'

Ziba replied, 'Yes, one of Jonathan’s sons is still alive. He is crippled in both feet.' Where is he?' the king asked.

'In Lo-debar,' Ziba told him, 'at the home of Makir son of Ammiel.' So David sent for him and brought him from Makir’s home."

THE WIND OF GOD'S MERCY - A SEARCHING WIND

In the first part of this series, we likened the mercy of God to a wind. The wind of God's mercy directs the favour of God to the lives of men. God's mercy flows at his discretion. When God decides to be merciful to a human being, there is a transformation in the fellow's life for good.

Mephibosheth experienced the wind of God's mercy in a wonderful way. The mercy of God searched for him, located him and restored his princely estate. In the name of Jesus, the mercy of God will search for you, locate you and restore the Abrahamic covenant of blessing to you as a believer in Christ in Jesus name.

THE WIND OF GOD'S MERCY - A REFRESHING WIND

When David inquired for any survivor in King Saul's lineage, specifically asking about Jonathan's line; the servant in charge of King Saul's estate revealed the existence of Mephibosheth but with a caveat. Hear him: "Ziba replied, 'Yes, one of Jonathan’s sons is still alive. He is crippled in both feet."

(2 Sam 9:3b). He let the King know that Mephibosheth was a 'complete' cripple. In a way, he was trying to disqualify Mephibosheth. He did not know that the one qualified by God cannot be disqualified by men. The wind of God's mercy blows afresh on everyone. It is a refreshing wind, new and fresh every morning (Lam 3:23).

The Spirit of God's mercy does not discriminate. Anyone trying to disqualify you before your destiny helper will not succeed in Jesus name. They will be disappointed as God's mercy will seek you out in spite of your unqualified status in Jesus name. Job 5:12 says: "He disappointeth the devices of the crafty, so that their hands cannot perform their enterprise."

Ziba was fully in charge of King Saul's property. He knew that Mephibosheth was languishing in the land of Lo-debar. He knew the very street, house and even the owner of the house where Mephibosheth was living, but he never sent any relief to him. He was enjoying the largesse of royal proportions; a pauper living on princely portions while Prince Mephibosheth lived like a pauper in a hopeless and barren land. Twenty servants of Saul were working for Ziba (who was a servant himself) with his fifteen sons (2 Sam 9:10). Whoever is sitting on your seat of glory will vacate it today. The Spirit of God's mercy will speak on your behalf and restore whatever the cankerworms and caterpillars have ravaged in your life in the mighty name of Jesus. When the refreshing wind of God's mercy blew in Mephiboseth's direction, everything changed.

THE WIND OF GOD'S MERCY - A RESTORING WIND

Lo-debar was a ghetto in Gilead in ancient Israel. Lo-debar, according to Wikipedia, means no word, no pasture or no communication. It was a town in the middle of nowhere. But the wind of God's mercy blew toward Mephibosheth in the forgotten land of Lo-debar. "So David sent for him and brought him from Makir’s home" (2 Sam 9:5). The wind of God's mercy located him in Lo-debar. You may be in the wilderness, abandoned and forgotten. Men may have termed you "crippled in both feet," useless, impotent and wretched. I decree in the name above all names - Jesus; the wind of God's mercy will blow your way, bring you out of 'Lo-debar' and restore your princely heritage in Jesus name. Hear what 1 Peter 2:9 (NIV) says: "But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light."

It is your turn to arise and shine. The one who has called you out of darkness will shine his light of mercy upon you today and restore you to your royal heritage in Christ in Jesus name.

PRAYER:

Father, you are the one that qualifies the unqualified, please by your mercy, blow away every 'but' in my life and restore me to who you created me to be in Jesus name.
