Summary: This sermon unpacks the glorious promise of Jeremiah 29:13, revealing that we are guaranteed to find God at the very moment our casual seeking becomes a wholehearted search.

Introduction: The Universal Search

Good evening, my beloved brothers and sisters.

Deep within every human soul, there is a search. It is a restless longing, a hunger for something more. We see this search all around us in our bustling city. People are searching for security in their jobs. They are searching for happiness in entertainment and possessions. They are searching for love and acceptance in their relationships. We are all, every one of us, on a quest for something to satisfy the deep ache of our hearts. This universal search was placed in us by the very God who made us.

The words of our text were first spoken to a people who felt they had lost everything. The people of Judah were in exile, living as captives in the pagan city of Babylon. They had lost their homes, their land, and their holy temple. They felt disconnected, discouraged, and far from God. It is into this darkness of despair that God sends a letter of breathtaking hope. And at the very heart of that letter, He gives them this glorious, unbreakable promise—a divine roadmap that shows us not if we can find Him, but exactly how.

I. The Promise: A Findable God ("Ye shall seek me, and find me...")

Before we examine our part, let us stand in awe of God's part. The promise is stunning in its certainty.

1. The Gracious Invitation to Seek: The first miracle of this verse is that God invites us to search for Him at all. The holy, infinite, all-powerful Creator of the universe turns to finite, sinful man and says, "Look for me." He is not a reclusive God who hides in some unreachable heaven. He is not a cosmic force that is indifferent to our existence. He is a personal God who desires to be known, who wants to be found.

2. The Unbreakable Guarantee of Finding: The promise is not, "You shall seek me, and you might find me if you are lucky." It is a divine guarantee: "Ye shall seek me, and find me." The outcome is not in doubt. It is as certain as the rising of the sun. God promises that no one who truly searches for Him will come away empty-handed. This promise removes all the fear and uncertainty from our spiritual quest. The question is not whether God can be found, but whether we will truly seek.

II. The Condition: A Wholehearted Search ("...when ye shall search for me with all your heart.")

The promise is glorious and sure, but the condition is total and absolute. The guaranteed outcome is tied to a specific manner of searching. What does it mean to search for God "with all your heart"?

1. It is a FOCUSED Search, not a Distracted Search.

To search with "all your heart" means that God is not just one item on your to-do list, somewhere between going to the market and watching a show. It means He is the central focus of your quest. In our world, the kingdom of distraction, this is a radical call. Our hearts are constantly pulled in a thousand directions by the notifications on our phones, the demands of our jobs, and the noise of the city. A wholehearted search means we intentionally silence those competing voices to tune our souls to His frequency. It is the opposite of a divided heart.

2. It is a PASSIONATE Search, not a Passive Search.

There is a world of difference between looking for spare change in your pocket and looking for a lost child. One is a casual glance; the other is a desperate, passionate, all-consuming search. To seek God with all your heart is to pursue Him with passion and desire. It is not a dull religious duty we perform, but an urgent quest for the only One who can satisfy our souls. It is to say with the psalmist, "As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God."

3. It is a TOTAL Search, not a Partial Search.

Searching with "all your heart" means we do not compartmentalize our lives. We cannot seek God in church on Sunday, and then seek wealth, pleasure, or pride from Monday to Saturday. A total search involves our whole being. We seek Him with our minds by studying His Word. We seek Him with our affections by worshipping Him in spirit and truth. We seek Him with our will by choosing to obey His commands. It means giving Him the keys to every room of our lives—our work, our family, our finances, and our secret thoughts.

III. The Application: How Do We Seek?

How do we, in the midst of our busy lives, actually do this?

1. We Seek Him in His Word. The primary place God has chosen to reveal Himself is in the pages of Scripture. A wholehearted search is impossible without a deliberate commitment to read, study, meditate upon, and obey the Bible.
