Josh 1:8 The Weakest Link

This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.

Links are connectors, You’ve heard it said: A chain is only as strong as it’s weakest link.

Each link in the chain is dependant upon the other, If one link breaks the chain is broken and it becomes useless, until the link is fixed or replaced.

In our faith walk there are links that are required to build a strong chain or faith life.

(1) The word (2) Hearing the word (3) Meditation (4) Obedience = doing

But the weakest link in the lives of many believers is the tongue link = Speaking the word.

You can never have a strong chain or faith walk without faith talk.

Faith talking and faith walking are as inseparable as links in a chain.

Heb 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please God.

Scripture makes it clear that there can be no strong faith walk without faith talk.

Faith talk is the heart overflowing through the mouth.

Mat 12:34-35

34 O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.

35 A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things.

Jesus reveals to us, that whatever is in the heart in abundance will express itself through the mouth.

It is critical to our faith walk that our tongue is functioning correctly (It is the mixer) that brings our thoughts and beliefs and ultimately our actions into line with the will of God.

Heb 4:1-2 ¶ Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it.

2 For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.

Eggs, butter, flour, sugar, milk, cake mix, etc, all the ingredients for a great cake, = potential. (but it will never be realized without (mixing) = The process of taking separate things and blending them into one

That’s the renewing of the mind and critical to this process is a wholesome tongue or a tongue that speaks truthfully, forthright, pure, =( The word).

Pr 15:4 ¶ A wholesome tongue is a tree of life: but perverseness therein is a breach in the spirit.

Pr 12:18 ¶ There is that speaketh like the piercings of a sword: but the tongue of the wise is health.

Pr 18:21 ¶ Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.

Much like the ingredients of the cake, the word of God is given to us just as the promise land was given to the children of Israel, but those promises must be mixed together with faith and that is the job of the tongue.

I can show you the ingredients, but I can’t make your cake, my tongue is my mixer and your tongue is your mixer.

If the ingredients available are not coming together it could be your mixers broken or maybe just unplugged.

Joshua and Caleb knew how important their tongues were to the process, You could hear their mixers on the job.

Num 13:30 And Caleb stilled the people before Moses, and said, Let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it.

(Num 14:6-9) And Joshua the son of Nun, and Caleb the son of Jephunneh, which were of them that searched the land, rent their clothes:

7 And they spake unto all the company of the children of Israel, saying, The land, which we passed through to search it, is an exceeding good land.

8 If the LORD delight in us, then he will bring us into this land, and give it us; a land which floweth with milk and honey.

9 Only rebel not ye against the LORD, neither fear ye the people of the land; for they are bread for us: their defence is departed from them, and the LORD is with us: fear them not.

Abraham realized how important his tongue was in the process of bringing the promise of God to pass in his life.

Ro 4:20-21 He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God;

21 And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.
