Youth Sermon: The Way of Jesus in Politics

Jesus' Style in the World of Politics

Hey guys! Let's talk about something that's everywhere right now - politics. I know, I know, it's not the most exciting topic, but stick with me. I promise it's going to be interesting.

You know how in school, there's always that one kid who wants to be the class president, not because they want to make things better, but because they want the power and popularity? That's kind of how politics can be sometimes. But Jesus, He did things differently.

But Jesus, He did things differently.

Jesus' Humility and Service

In Philippians 2:5-8, we see that Jesus was all about humility and service. He wasn't trying to be the big shot. He was the guy washing feet, helping the poor, and loving the unlovable. He was the ultimate servant leader.

Conflicts and Desires

Now, imagine you're at a party and there's only one slice of pizza left. You want it, your friend wants it, everyone wants it. That's where fights start, right? James 4:1-3 says that's how conflicts start - from our own desires. We want that last slice of pizza, or that power, or that popularity, and we're willing to fight for it. But what if instead of fighting, we prayed about it? What if we asked God to help us be content with what we have and to help us put others first?

Jesus as Our Anchor

Now, let's talk about anchors. You know, those heavy things that keep ships from drifting away? Hebrews 6:19-20 says Jesus is our anchor. No matter how crazy the world gets, no matter who wins the election, Jesus is constant. He's not going anywhere.

Striving to Be Like Jesus

So, what does this all mean for us? It means we should strive to be like Jesus. We should be humble, serve others, and put our trust in Him, not in politicians or popularity.

Let's pray. God, help us to be like Jesus. Help us to be humble, to serve others, and to trust in You. Help us to remember that You are our anchor, no matter what happens in the world. Amen.
