The Voice Of The Lord

These days there are lot of strange, false and even good voices but there is no Lord’s voice. There are many meetings and gatherings, but there is no voice of the Lord. The voice of the Lord has become a rare thing to find in Christian circles. In previous generations, the voice of the Lord thrived because of persecutions and hardships. But nowadays, the Lord’s voice is clearly missing in the churches and meetings. Even though many people attend meeting after meeting, yet their lives remain unchanged. The voice of the Lord changes lives and brings a fear of the Lord.

Many Christians are troubled by these strange voices. These strange, good, or mystical voices can even inspire and motivate you, but they don’t emphasize God’s will and the need for repentance. These strange voices can motivate you and even bring blessings, but they do not bring the Lord’s favour. In Psalms 29:3-8, the Psalmist beautifully describes about the voice of the Lord. The Lord’s voice shakes and breaks the cedars of Lebanon. Is it not capable of shaking your heart – shaking the hardness of your heart and breaking deeply attached sins?

Just as Aaron’s rod (which became a serpent) swallowed the sorcerer’s rods (Exodus 7:12), the voice of the Lord swallows all the other voices. The Lord’s voice swallows up all the other voices (that create a wrong understanding of God, confusion, motivation, and turmoil). Even if 100 other strange voices are heard at the same time, the Lord’s voice can swallow up the other 100 strange voices. The Lord’s voice is a resonating voice that is easily understood by the heart or soul. It is not a complicated voice, but rather a simple and powerful voice. Once you hear this voice, it’s difficult to forget it, and it always keep resonating in your heart.

Even if it is only 1-2 words, the voice of the Lord can penetrate the hearts of people, exposing and correcting their sins and instilling a fear of the Lord in them. The voice of the Lord penetrates the deepmost parts of your heart, whereas other voices are only on the surface. These strange voices will not go deep to change your heart(via repentance), but will instead cover up your sins. These strange voices manipulate or play with your emotions and give emotional repentance.

The Lord’s voice is powerful enough to shake or break the sins that have been clinging to your heart for years. The Lord’s voice primarily leads people to repentance (repentance of their wicked ways and lifestyles) and holy living with a fear of the Lord. When John the Baptist preached people instantly repented of their sinful ways. A vessel with voice of the Lord is prepared in the wilderness. It takes years for a such a vessel of this calibre to be prepared. However, once the vessel is prepared, the amount of work done for the Lord is enormous.

Vessels with the voice of the Lord are desperately needed in God’s kingdom. John the Baptist was a vessel with the voice of the Lord in his generation. In these days, there is a scarcity of vessels with the Lord’s voice. Plead with God to make you a vessel for the Lord’s voice in this generation. The only voice that can silence or swallow the other strange voices is the Lord’s voice.
