The Vision Factor

Joshua 3:1-4

I. Being Vision-Minded Requires Faith (v. 1-4)

A. Faith to recognize God’s desires

“…truly God has delivered all the land into our hands..” Josh. 2:24

• God’s desire for your life

• God’s desire for your ministry

• God’s desire for your church

B. Faith to recognize God’s direction

“…then you shall set out from your place and go after it.” Josh. 3:3

C. Faith to follow God’s path

“…for you have not passed this way before..” Josh. 3:4

1. God’s path is not a shot in the dark

2. God’s path is not always logical (to us)

3. God’s path is always right

II. Being Vision-Minded Reveals God’s Power (v. 14-17)

A. God’s power will only be displayed where He leads (v. 14)

• The Red Sea Crossing (Exodus 14)

• Mt. Carmel (I Kings 18)

• Are you in your life, your ministry and is our church headed where God is headed?

“If a Christian is going to be a great kingdom Christian then we must be where God is and the same is true for the church”

B. God’s Power will usually be revealed in the seemingly impossible

“…for the Jordan overflows all its banks during the whole time of harvest..” v. 14

1. God’s vision will always be bigger than you

2. God’s vision will always bring victory to His people

3. God’s vision will always bring glory to Him

C. God’s Power is confirmed in our obedience

“…and all Israel crossed over on dry ground, until all the people had crossed over the Jordan” - v. 17

III. Being Vision-Minded Recognizes the Presence of God

A. We Must Recognize that God Will Always Go Before Us

“…with the priest bearing the ark of the covenant before the people..” – v. 14

B. We Must Recognize that God will always be beside us

“Then the priest who bore the ark of the covenant of the Lord stood firm on dry ground in the midst of the Jordan…” v. 17

“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble” – Ps. 46:1

“…but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.” – Proverbs 18:24

“…For He himself has said, I will never leave you nor forsake you.” – Hebrews 13:5

C. We Must recognize that God Always is faithful to follow through

“Then it cam to pass, when all the people had completely passed over, that the ark of the Lord and the priest crossed over in the presence of the people” – Josh. 4:11
