Summary: God wants empty vessels

Harry McCoy the pastor of Tanglewood Baptist Church. He had been there for about 9 years and was retiring because of health problems, preached that Sunday night at Tanglewood and they were going to be moving the next day and he passed away in his sleep that night.

Verse 1-Your Servant

Sometimes we think just because we have served the Lord or our family members have that it’s not fair that some bad things come into our life.

Why Me Attitude! Why is this happing to me, I don’t deserve this!

Verse 2-What shall I do for you?

Why did he asked this question?

Because I think it is a reminder that that’s how we talk to God!

We tell God the problem, then we try to tell God how to solve it!

The prophet didn’t wait for her to answer, just like God doesn’t wait for us to come up with a solution (Thank God!) or doesn’t need us telling Him how to solve the problem, He has already got the answer to our problem!

BUT-DON’T TELL ME WHAT YOU DON’T HAVE, TELL ME WHAT YOU DO HAVE?

Whatever you have in the house is enough for God!

David and sling, kills Goliath

If it’s only a handful of meal in the bottom of the barrel, God can make it last to feed Elijah and a woman and her son until the drought is passed!

If there are only 5 loafs & 2 fishes it’ll be enough for 5000 people!

It’s wonderful to come to realize that God is the Master of circumstances!

Vance Havner told a story about an elderly lady who was greatly disturbed by her many troubles—both real and imaginary. Finally, someone in her family tactfully told her, “Grandma, we’ve done all we can for you. You’ll just have to trust God for the rest.”

A look of absolute despair spread over her face as she replied, “Oh dear, has it come to that?” Havner commented, “It always comes to that, so we might as well begin with that!”

Verse 3-Vessels

God wants empty vessels, so He can fill ‘em!

Some people lives are so full they don’t have time for God!

Some people are so hill of things of this world that they can’t let God fill their life with what He has!

Sometimes the reason God can’t bless us is we are too fUll already, too full of pride, too fUll of self sufficiency!

Borrow-Every borrowed empty vessel was a declaration of desperation, it was admitting to God and to others, I’m as empty as this vessel, I am as weak and powerless as this vessel.

That why it is important to have invitation at the end of the service, we need to admit to our self and to others that we need God’s help!

Because sometimes people look at you and think they are so strong, they got their act together, and if they would see you walk the aisle they would think, “If they need help then I know I do!”

Borrow Not A Few-This means that the widow could have as much provision as she had faith.

Matthew 9:27-30-When Jesus departed froni there, two blind men followed Him, crying out and saying, “Son of David, have mercy on us!”

And when He had come into the house, the blind men came to Him. And Jesus said to them, “Do you believe that I am able to do this?” They said to Him, “Yes, Lord.” Then He touched their eyes, saying, “According to your faith let it be to you.” And their eyes were opened. And Jesus sternly warned them, saying, “See that no one knows it”

The one vessel (Your Life) you have is it full or empty?

How many vessels (People) can you bring to be filled?
