There are different powers in this world; some are from the pit of hell, while some are from men but there is a Divine Power; that is greater than every other power.
Col. 2:15: And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.
This is a tremendous verse of scripture with deep meanings. The Greek version of the Bible, connotes “Spoiled” here, with “stripped naked.” “Shew” connotes display.
This can be illustrated in the image of a soldier who goes to war and comes back with the captives which include the king and weapons of the opposing camp, he would line them up in public, to display his victory. So what Jesus did, was to strip naked the wicked satanic powers and expose them in disgrace, to show His victory. He displayed them openly in the heavens. It was not a quiet affair, and it is still the same today.
There was a missionary who came to Africa to preach the Gospel. One day he was going to preach somewhere and he rode on his horse. When the horse got to a certain location, it stopped and refused to move. The man got off the horse and looked round to see what was there. He saw a big snake near a big stone and he was scared.
Having heard stories of dangerous snakes in Africa, he started to calculate what solution could help out. He decided to quietly move back to his horse and go back home, saying that he would apologize to the congregation for not coming. He then heard the Holy Spirit say he would have failed in his duty, if he did that. He summed up courage and picked stones and threw them at the snake. To his surprise, the snake did not move. He moved back and threw more; then he realized that it was already dead. This means he was occupied for about 30 minutes, by a dead, harmless snake.
The Bible tells us that Jesus bruised the head of the serpent and that we should resist the devil and he will flee from us. It is when you declare war against the devil and correctly resist him that you will notice that he is a coward.
Many problems of people are tied to fear.
In the book “Pilgrim’s Progress” Pilgrim arrived the vicinity of heaven. He was seeing the mansions from afar, hearing the songs of angels and he had to tread a narrow path. On this path, was a big lion and he was almost afraid, but he said to himself that he had suffered throughout the journey and he was almost at his destination; he said he would not turn back, that he would dare to face the lion. He was determined to get to heaven so, if the lion killed him at that stage, he would have tried. He decided to charge the lion head- on and engage it in a fight, not minding death. He moved back, ran forward and collided with it.
To his amazement the lion was cardboard. It was meant to scare him and he would have lost, if he had backed out at that crucial point.
Pray this prayer point:
Spirit of fear, release me in the name of Jesus.
Luke 10:17-19: And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name. [18] And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven. [19] Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.
Remember, anyone going about with beggarly powers is just wasting his or her time. Beggarly powers are those powers that are not of God; it includes occultism and the reading of occultic books, joining associations and sects like Amorc, Grail message, Lodge, White garment gatherings, herbalists etc.
You will find out that these powers will always have some that are more powerful than them and the ultimate power is the Lord’s. There are always senior herbalists or prophets or magicians but they are no match to the Power of God. They can manifest anywhere but they have limits.
I am bold to declare to you, that every power that is not of God, is a beggarly power. The only power that cannot be conquered, is that of the Lord Jesus Christ. For He has been given a name that is above all names and He has exalted Him far above every principality and powers and every name that is to be named, even if it is non- existent yet, as far as it will be given a name, the Lord’s name is far above it.
