Youth Sermon: The Truth

Building Our Lives on a Solid Foundation

Today, we're going to talk about building our lives on a solid foundation. You know when you're playing Jenga, and you want to make sure the tower doesn't fall over? Well, our lives are kind of like that tower, and we need to make sure we're building on something strong and steady.

Jesus talked about this in Matthew 7:24-27. He said that if we listen to His words and actually do what He says, it's like we're building our lives on a rock. But if we just hear His words and don't do anything about it, it's like we're building on sand. And we all know what happens when a big wave comes and hits a sandcastle, right? It's gone in an instant.

Our lives are kind of like that tower, and we need to make sure we're building on something strong and steady.

How to Build on the Rock

So, how do we make sure we're building on the rock? It's all about getting into God's Word, the Bible, and actually living it out. The Bible is like our ultimate guidebook for life, and it's full of truth that can help us in every situation.

I have a glass of water and a sponge. The water represents God's Word, and the sponge represents our hearts. When we read the Bible and let its truth soak into our hearts, it's like pouring water on the sponge. Our hearts become full of God's truth, and we're able to live it out in our everyday lives.

But if we just hear God's Word and don't let it soak in, it's like pouring water next to the sponge. The sponge stays dry, and we don't have that solid foundation to build our lives on.

Commitment and Prayer

So, let's make a commitment to be in God's Word every day this week. Maybe you can read a chapter of the Bible before school or listen to an audio Bible on your way to practice. Whatever works for you, just give it a try and see how it changes your life.

As we wrap up, let's pray together. God, thank You for giving us Your Word to guide us and help us build our lives on a solid foundation. Help us to not just hear Your Word, but to actually live it out. Show us how to make time for You and Your Word every day, and help us to grow closer to You. In Jesus' name, amen.
