“THE TOUCH OF JESUS”

B.R.: Luk 5:12 And it came to pass, when he was in a certain city, behold a man full of leprosy: who seeing Jesus fell on his face, and besought him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.

Luk 5:13 And he put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will: be thou clean. And immediately the leprosy departed from him.

INTRODUCTION:

As I read in our bible reading, Jesus was in a certain city. The bible doesn’t say which city he was in but it doesn’t matter, whatever city Jesus is in people lives will begin to change.

Upon entering into this city, it says in verse 12 that a man full of leprosy saw Him. No doubt this man had heard about the healings that Jesus had accomplished in the lives of many people. He probably had heard of the many lives that had been changed by this man that had come on the scene in this region.

When he saw Jesus, he fell on his face and began to worship him. He began to ask him, “If thou wilt, thou canst make me clean? In other words…If you will, can you make me clean?

When people truly “SEE” Jesus as this man saw him, they will do 3 things:

1. They will WORSHIP HIM.

2. They will Petition Him.

3. They will Serve Him.

It’s been shared, TO KNOW HIM IS TO WORSHIP HIM… TO WORSHIP HIM IS TO LOVE HIM…AND TO LOVE HIM IS TO SERVE HIM.

This man began to bow down on his face in reverence to the KING OF KINGS AND THE LORD OF LORDS.

This man had no qualms about bowing down on his face before Him. He had:

No Pride

No Shame

No Fear

All he concentrated on was that he needed a touch from THE MASTER.

His question was faith mixed with “HOPE”. It seemed like he was saying “Lord, if you want too, could you do this for me?? This man’s attitude was like many today. Many feel like their lives are so messed up that if they came to Jesus and ask Him for help, he would be mad at them.

The devil is the accuser of the brethren. He’s the one saying;

Stay away from church!

Don’t go to the altar!!

You look foolish!!

Everyones looking at you!!

This man didn’t care who was looking at him, he wanted something from Christ. He asked a question in faith, hoping that it would happen. Remember, Hebrews ch. 11…Faith is the substance of things hoped for.

If you can see it happening by faith, it will happen if you put feet behind it.

This man came to Jesus, not Jesus coming to him. Sometimes people are used to church folk coming to them. Things happen in our lives for a reason. Could it be that some things happen to us to get us to look to Jesus?

This man petitioned Jesus for something that he really needed in his life. What he needed was “literally” going to change his life forever. Ask yourself this question:…Is what you prayed for relevant to what you need?? Or is it what YOU want?? There are a lot of things I want, but do I truly need those things?

The bible says in Joh 2:24-25: But Jesus did not commit himself unto them, because he knew all men,

Joh 2:25 And needed not that any should testify of man: for he knew what was in man.

He knows our thoughts and our intents. Heb 4:12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

After this man did his part: He worshipped and petitioned. Christ did his part…He Answered.

In order for Jesus to do what we petition of Him, we must do the same thing this man has did. WORSHIP HIM FIRST AND THEN BELIEVE!!

Then the bible says in verse 13 that Jesus put forth his hand and touched him, saying, I will: be thou clean.

There was no doubt in Jesus mind what He wanted to do.

Matter-of-fact, there has never been any doubt in Jesus mind what He came to do. The only doubt is in mankinds mind.

Jesus was committed into doing the will of the Father. He said in Luke 2:49 that…. I must be about my Father’s business?

We must give Him the Praise and Worship that is due him. Psa 29:2: Give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name; worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness.

Psa 95:6 O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before the LORD our maker.
