Summary: Jesus was dying among sinners, But also dying for sinners!
Luke 23:39-Then one of the criminals who were hanged blasphemed Him, saying, “If You are the Christ,fn save Yourself and us.”
40-But the other, answering, rebuked him, saying, “Do you not even fear God, seeing you are under the same condemnation?
41-“And we indeed justly, for we receive the due reward of our deeds; but this Man has done nothing wrong.”
42-Then he said to Jesus, “Lord,fn remember me when You come into Your kingdom.”
43-And Jesus said to him, “Assuredly, I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise.”
Have you ever wonder why there was there three crosses?
It easy for us to just focus on the middle cross, especially when we get close to easter.
There is purpose of the three crosses.
One was a cross of Rebellion.
One was a cross of Repentance.
The other was a cross of Redemption.
Jesus was dying among sinners, But also dying for sinners!
Jesus can save the unholy, the unfit, and the unclean, but He cannot save the unwilling!
The other two crosses are a reminder that Christ died for all. There are those who accept him and those who do not.
The crosses are a very real reminder to us that it is not our circumstances but our choices that determine where we will spend eternity.
You got two men who are facing death for their crimes and yet one is changed by the presence of Jesus and the other is not!
Every person makes the choice whether the choose of eternal life or eternal death.
The three cross represents, the state of the human condition!
One died in sin- and was lost.
One died to sin- and went to be with Christ.
One died for sin-for your sins and mine.
The one thief didn't see Jesus as anything different than himself, that's why it was so easy to mock him.
Sadly in doing this, he chose eternal death over eternal life.
The other thief seen that Jesus was different than himself!
And ask to be with Jesus in Paradise.
He chose eternal life instead of eternal death.
A son asked his father, "Why did Jesus have to die?"
Long, long ago, before time began to be.
It was determined to be settled upon a tree.
The son of God became a man and came to reveal salvation's plan.
A sinless life he lived each day, walking, living in teaching to show us the way.
For the wrong we've done, we could not atone.
The price for our sins, he would pay alone.
The loss of a soul, he could not abide.
And there, my son is why He died, for our sins, He set us free.
He came to die for you and for me.
