Summary: This sermon looks at some "Things God has prepared for them that love Him".
“The Things Which God Hath Prepared For Them That Love Him”
Text: 1 Corinthians 2:9-13
Intro:
The word “prepares” means “to make all things ready; to put things in suitable order.
I want us to look at some “Things God has prepared for them that love Him.”
He has prepared for us -
I. A PLACE – John 14:1-2
Residences of the Place – John 14:2
Mansions, not rooms, dwelling places as it says in modern versions.
Image singing “I got a room just over the hilltop!”
Receiver of the Place – John 14:3
Jesus – He said “I…receive you unto myself”
Residents of the Place – John 14:3
The saints – those saved from Pentecost (Acts 2) to the rapture (I Thess. 4)
Jesus said, “I will come again” – speaks of the rapture or catching away of the church, the body of Chirst.
He has prepared for us -
I. A PLACE
II. A CITY – Hebrews 11:14-16
Heavenly City
Hebrews 11:16 – “an heavenly”
Revelation 21:2 – “And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven,…”
Holy City
Revelation 21:2-4 – Presence of God
Revelation 21:22-27 – Not only presence of God but NO SIN & Only SAVED.
Huge City
Revelation 21:16 – “double cube” with basis lining up together.
1200 miles long, 1200 miles wide, 1200 miles high
Revelation 21:17 – Wall, 260-300 feet high.
Revelation 21:18 – It is a pure gold city like clear glass which shines with the light of a jasper carbon diamond.
It has a street of pure gold running 1200 miles from one end to the other.
Revelation 21:19-20 – The wall of city is made up of 12 different foundations each having a different precious stone.
Revelation 21:21 – The city has 12 gates made of pearl and each pearl is approximately 30 feet diameter.
He has prepared for us -
I. A PLACE
II. A CITY
III. A DINNER OR SUPPER – Matthew 22:4 – “…Behold, I have prepared my dinner…”
Notice with me here in Matthew 22:4, the reason for the dinner.
“…all things are ready: come unto the marriage.”
The Couple
The Apostle Paul identifies - 2 Corinthians 11:2
John the Baptist identifies Christ as bridegroom – John 3:29
The Lord Jesus Christ & The Church
The church, the body of Christ is the bride of Christ.
The Bride of Christ made up of all those saved from the Day of Pentecost (Acts 2) until the rapture or catching away of the church (1 Thess, 4).
The Ceremony
Revelation 19:7-8
The Celebration
Revelation 19:9
Note
If you do not get saved now and end up going through the Tribulation and taking the mark of the beast –
Then you will probably end up literally being on the dinner menu of “the supper of the great God;”
Revelation 19:17-18.
Conclusion:
What has God prepared for you if you love Him?
A golden city and it is 1200 miles high, 1200 miles long, 1200 miles wide and it has transparent gold mansions.
Then He has a body prepared for you like Christ’s.
He has a sinless body prepared for you in a city where you will never have to worry about sin or death or pain or suffering or sorrow or tears.
He has prepared the greatest feast of all time, “the Marriage Supper of the Lamb” to celebrate the marriage of His dear Son, the Lord Jesus Christ with His bride the church that He has been calling out 2,000 years.
He has prepared for you an eternal home in His presence and then He is going to show you the glory He gave Jesus Christ before the foundation of world.
That is what He said He would do!
