Summary: The Table of Shewbread
I. Construction
A. Achia wood layered with gold
B. 3 ft. long x 1.5 ft. wide x 2.3 ft. high
C. Gold moulding around top, gold rings w/poles for carrying
II. Use
A. Food for the priests
B. 12 loaves prepared by the Levites, replaced every Sabbath
C. Were to be covered with Frankencinse (Lev. 24:5-9)
III. Symbolism
A. Jesus – the Bread of Life
1. John 6:48, “I am that bread of life”
2. John 6:51, “I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever:”
B. Word of God
1. The living Word is revealed in the written Word
2. John 1:1; word – ‘logos’ = expression
3. The bible is the expression of God
4. We must feed on it regularly
IV. Worship
A. The Word of God must be central in our worship
B. We need a regular diet of it for strength and growth
C. Note: Priests had to bend or kneel to reach the bread

2. Prayer & the Word of God go hand in hand
