Plan for: Thanksgiving | Advent | Christmas
Even the smallest amount of Jesus is more than enough to satisfy our needs. If we have Jesus, we have everything we need.
Ever been in a situation where you needed a miracle? Like, you're in a jam and you don't know who to turn to? We all know that God's the one who does miracles. Today, we're gonna learn from a woman who needed a miracle for her daughter and how her faith and never-give-up attitude led to a miracle from Jesus.
Imagine you're at a party and there's a huge table filled with all kinds of food. But you're not allowed to eat anything from the table. You're only allowed to eat the crumbs that fall off. Sounds unfair, right? But what if those crumbs were from the most delicious, satisfying food you could ever imagine? That's what it's like with Jesus. Even the smallest bit of Him is more than enough to satisfy us.
Even the smallest bit of Him is more than enough to satisfy us.
In this story, a woman comes up to Jesus, begging for help. She's not from the same crowd as Jesus, but she believes that He can heal her daughter. Even when Jesus seems to ignore her, she doesn't back down. She keeps asking Him, showing us that faith is about hanging on, even when things look bleak. This woman's faith wasn't shaken by silence; she knew who Jesus was and what He could do.
Faith often means swallowing our pride - admitting we need God and not letting our ego get in the way. This woman didn't get mad when Jesus compared her to a dog. Instead, she used the same image to show her faith, saying that even dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their master's table.
Jesus was impressed by her faith and granted her request. Her daughter was healed. Faith can move mountains and make miracles happen. It's not about how big our faith is, but how big the God we believe in is. Like Paul said in Philippians 4:13, 'I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.'
God's got a track record of providing for people. In this story, Jesus provides for a woman who's considered an outsider. His provision isn't limited by our human labels. It's for everyone who believes in Him. Jesus' ultimate provision isn't just physical or temporary, but spiritual and forever. It's found in knowing Christ and trusting Him to take care of our needs.
The Canaanite woman came to Jesus for her daughter's healing, but she got so much more. She got affirmation of her faith, a personal encounter with the Messiah, and a place in God's big plan. This is the overflowing provision of Jesus - more than we can ask or imagine.
The woman's faith was rewarded with her daughter's instant healing and recognition of her worthiness before God. Jesus' example shows that He's open to the faith of outsiders. He shines a light into our lives so that we can shine a light for others.
We're all recipients of God's abundant blessings. Even in tough times, we can see His hand at work, providing for our needs and holding us up with His love. If we have Jesus, we've got more than enough; we've got the miraculous provision of heaven.
So, what does this mean for us? It means that no matter what we're going through, we can always turn to Jesus. We can trust Him to provide for us, even when it seems like we're just getting crumbs. Because with Jesus, even the crumbs are enough.
1. Can you share a time when you felt like you needed a miracle?
2. How did you see God's provision in that situation?
3. How can we encourage each other to have faith like the Canaanite woman?
4. What does it mean to you that even the smallest amount of Jesus is enough?
5. How can we apply the lesson of the Canaanite woman in our daily lives?
