Obedience is inherent in the relationship of man (as a created being) with God, the Creator. The New Covenant does not do away with the need for obedience to God. In fact, it supplies the strength to live that way. Heaven will be a place of obedience to God.

Introduction

The Power of Obedience

The most important issue in your life right now is your obedience to God. Every problem you face is somehow related to this issue, and every solution in your life is ultimately found in obedience to God. Today, I want to talk about the power of obedience. Obedience opens up the infinite wisdom of God. You don't have to figure out all the details of your problem; all you need to do is listen to God's voice and do what He tells you to do. This requires faith, as it means trusting in God's wisdom and love for the outcome.

I. Obedience is the designed relationship between man and God

God created man to work in relationship with Him. Man is dependent on God for life and is designed to submit and obey Him. This relationship of obedience was established from the beginning, even before the Law was given to Moses. Adam, Noah, Abraham, and others in the Old Testament demonstrated obedience to God's commands. Obedience is not dependent on a specific covenant but is inherent in the way man was designed to operate.

II. The New Covenant empowers obedience

The New Covenant did not negate the need for obedience to God; instead, it empowered it. Jesus came not to destroy the Law but to fulfill it. He emphasized the importance of obedience and taught that our righteousness should exceed that of the scribes and Pharisees. Jesus' own obedience to the Father established the New Covenant, and He calls us to follow His example. Obedience is a central theme in the New Testament, and it is through obedience that we experience the power of God in our lives.

III. Heaven will be a place of complete obedience

In heaven, there will be no rebellion or lawlessness. Every enemy will be defeated, and all will be subject to God. Heaven is a place of perfect tranquility, where angels and humans alike obey God's commands. Our happiness in heaven will depend on our obedience to God, as it is in right relationship with Him that we find fulfillment, joy, and peace. Heaven is a place where obedience to God prevails in every creature.

Conclusion

Any gospel that exempts people from obedience to God is a false gospel. The good news is that Jesus has provided forgiveness for our sins and sent the Holy Spirit to empower us to live obedient lives. The New Covenant equips us to live godly lives and promises us a home in heaven where obedience to God prevails. Let us pursue this heavenly obedience and experience the power of God in our lives.
