The Status Of The Church
Contributed by Guy Glass on May 5, 2004 (message contributor)
Summary: This is a simple outline composed while I was on a mission trip to Vietnam and the Philipinnes. This message deals with the status of the church relative to God’s truth
THE STATUS OF THE CHURCH
1 JOHN 1:1-10
INTRODUCTION: What is the status of the church? This morning I want to proclaim to you what I have seen, what God is doing, who he is using, and the struggles they face. My recent trip to Vietnam and the Philippines has affected me powerfully. And I am encouraged by what I see, and challenged for what we are not doing.
I GOD IS ACTIVE
A God’s activity is eternal
B God’s activity is personal (we)
C God’s activity is verifiable
1 Seen it
2 Touched it
II GOD’S ACTIVITY IS PROCLAIMABLE
A We are to proclaim what we have verified
B Proclamation binds us together in fellowship
C Fellowship links the body of Christ together in spite of distance or barriers
D The body of Christ faces the same struggles in different forms
III GOD’S ACTIVITY REVEALS WHAT DARKNESS REALLY IS
A God’s truth is exclusive
1 Not mix or match
2 Not pick and choose
3 All or nothing
B God’s truth is THE litmus test
1 Comparison with the truth is revealing
2 Comparison with the truth lets us see the darkness
