The Spirit Of Jezebel- Confusion Series

1 Kings 17:1

And Elijah the Tishbite, who was of the inhabitants of Gilead, said unto Ahab, As the LORD God of Israel liveth, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, but according to my word.

We all know the story of Jezebel and over the next few weeks we are going to address some pretty serious topics concerning the Spirit of Jezebel.

* Confusion

* Dissatisfaction

* Perfectionism

* Fear

* Anxiety

* Gossip

* Legalism

* Manipulation

Today I want to address Confusion in the church, in our families, and in our personal minds. Let me start by saying the Spirit of Jezebel is very real and is still very active today. Even though this is an old testament scripture we read in Revelations about Jezebel again in Chapter 2 verse 20 as Christ delivers a message to the church at Thyatira.

Notwithstanding I have a few things against thee, because thou sufferest that woman Jezebel, which calleth herself a prophetess, to teach and to seduce my servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed unto idols.

Therefore, today at Union Grove I evoke the Authority of the Jehu Mantle. There is a mantle that can be passed down from generation to generation. When we look at Jehu's grandfather (the first generation) we see this

1. Nimshi (nim-shee) Jehu's Grandfather, his name means "one who sets free" and "rescued"

2. Jehoshaphat translated "Jehovah Judges"

3. Jehu translated "Jehovah is"

4. Look at how Micah 2:13 describes Christ "The Breaker

The breaker is come up before them: they have broken up, and have passed through the gate, and are gone out by it: and their king shall pass before them, and the LORD on the head of them.

Jehovah is everything!

If we want to break the Spirit of Jezebel then we will need the help of Jesus Christ!

Now to the main text this morning and that is the Spirit of Jezebel brings Confusion into our lives. When a Jezebel spirit is in operation in our lives, we will most likely experience chaos, confusion and disorder. It is possible in this instance that spirit of lawlessness may also be in effect.

Confusion in the Church

Churches witness this Jezebel Spirit of Confusion as it squeezes the life from our praise and worship. As we stifle the Holy Spirit in our church services because our minds are wondering. When we focus on Jesus Christ and him alone and begin to focus on our worship of Him then the Holy Spirit will release confusion, control, occultic powers and death. Since the name Jezebel means "non-cohabitative" the person with this spirit cannot submit to any form of authority.

Guess how much fun it is to pastor someone who entertains this spirit: None! But while we must not tolerate this spirit, we must love the person.

Because Jezebel desires to yoke us into an ungodly covenant with her, we must remain on guard in the relationship- especially as a pastor or a leader. This is because Jezebel desires the leadership position and will do whatever it takes- especially using false flattery and stirring up rebellion in the congregation- to acquire it. To have her way, Jezebel will pray charismatic witchcraft prayers. These types are all sourish in nature as this person will pray his or her own desires. Again, this is divination, sometimes referred to as white witchcraft. I can remember being extremely ill during Jezebels attacks. It is now clear to me that Jezebel travels with a spirit of infirmity. In addition, Jezebels spirit is passed down generational lines so if a mother is a strong Jezebel, here daughter will be influenced to be one as well.

Since we are talking about Witchcraft I want to take you to Lamentations 3:7

He hath hedged me about, that I cannot get out: he hath made my chain heavy.

Interestingly the word used for Chains in the Hebrew is Nachuwsh (new-khoosh) and it means "a sense of ringing" compared to a sound of a bell or a sound metal makes. Strongs' also gives us another interesting reference: it refers to a sound that comes through "the red color of the throat of a serpent when it hisses". The nachuwsh is connected to a root work nachash and it means "to hiss, that is, whisper a magic spell"

Do you see how Jezebel will hold you captive. Not with a physical chain but an emotional roller coaster that needs to be called out.
