Preach Christmas week
Emphasizes celebrating Christmas by manifesting God's love, as shown through Jesus Christ, and making love the centerpiece of our holiday celebrations.
Welcome, beloved family of God, to this warm gathering of hearts and souls, united in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. As we gather here, let us remember that the Christmas season is not merely about the glittering lights, the festive decorations, or the beautifully wrapped gifts under the tree. Instead, it is about the greatest gift of all, the gift of Love incarnate, given to us in the form of a baby born in a manger.
The renowned preacher, Charles Spurgeon, once said, "Nothing puts life into men like a dying Savior." Indeed, our Savior, Jesus Christ, came into this world to die for us, to show us the profound depth of His love. His birth was not just a historical event but a divine intervention, a heavenly demonstration of love unparalleled and unmatched.
As we gather here, let's look at the scripture that will guide us today. Romans 12:10 tells us,
"Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves."
This verse, my dear brothers and sisters, is a divine injunction, a heavenly mandate that calls us to manifest love, magnify Christ in our love, and make love the center of our Christmas celebration.
The Apostle Paul did not merely suggest that we should be devoted to one another in love; he instructed us to do so. It is not an option, it is a command. And not just any command, but a command that comes with a promise. A promise that when we love, we become more like Christ, we draw closer to God, and we experience the fullness of His grace.
As we prepare to delve into this profound truth today, let's bow our heads in prayer.
Dear Heavenly Father, we thank You for Your unfathomable love, demonstrated through the birth, life, death, and resurrection of our Savior, Jesus Christ. As we reflect on Your Word today, open our hearts and minds to understand and experience Your love more deeply. Help us to love one another as You have loved us, and may our celebration of Christmas be a true reflection of Your love. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
So, as we stand on the precipice of the Christmas season, let us remember that it is not about the festivities or the gifts, but about the love of God made manifest in Christ Jesus. Let us strive to manifest that love in our lives, magnify Christ through our love, and make love the centerpiece of our Christmas celebration. For in doing so, we honor God and become a living testament to His great love for us.
As we gather in this sacred space, let's remember the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ. His birth was a divine act of love, a heavenly gift to humanity. It was God's way of showing us how much He loves us. And this love, my dear brothers and sisters, is what we are called to manifest in our lives, especially during the Christmas season.
Gifts: When we think about the Christmas season, we often think about the gifts we give and receive. But the greatest gift of all is the gift of love. This is the gift that God gave us in the form of His Son, Jesus Christ. And this is the gift that we are called to give to others. Not just in the form of physical gifts, but in the form of love, kindness, compassion, and care.
How do we manifest this love in our lives?: How do we show this love to others? The Apostle Paul gives us some guidance in Romans 12:10. He tells us to be devoted to one another in love and to honor one another above ourselves. This means putting the needs of others before our own. It means showing kindness and compassion to those around us. It means being patient, understanding, and forgiving.
Manifesting love is about our attitudes: It's about the way we think and feel about others. It's about seeing others through the lens of love, just as God sees us. It's about recognizing the inherent worth and dignity of every person, regardless of their circumstances or background. It's about treating others with respect and dignity, just as God treats us.
Manifesting love is not always easy: It requires sacrifice. It requires us to step out of our comfort zones. It requires us to put aside our own desires and preferences for the sake of others. But this is what Jesus did for us. He put aside His own desires and preferences. He stepped out of His comfort zone. He made the ultimate sacrifice for us. And He did it all out of love.
