THE SINGING REVIVALS OF THE BIBLE
“I will sing unto the Lord, because He hath dealt bountifully with me.” Psalm 13:6
Revival awaits our own soul when we lift our hearts and our voices in grateful praise and thanksgiving to God in joyous song. Consider some of the "singing revivals" mentioned in the Word of God.
THE REVIVAL DURING THE REBUILDING OF THE TEMPLE.
“And when the builders laid the foundation of the temple of the Lord, the priests stood in their apparel with trumpets, and the Levites, with cymbals, to praise the Lord, according to the ordinance of David, king of Israel.
"And they sang together by course in praising and giving thanks unto the Lord; because He is good, for is mercy endures forever toward Israel.
"And all the people shouted with a great shout, when they praised the Lord, because the foundation of the house of the Lord was laid.” Ezra 3: 10-11.
THE REVIVAL THAT FOLLOWED THE DEDICATION OF THE REBUILT WALL OF JERUSALEM.
“And at the dedication of the wall of Jerusalem they sought the Levites out of all their places, to bring them to Jerusalem, to keep the dedication with gladness, both with thanksgivings, and with singing, with cymbals, psalteries, and with harps. And the sons of the singers gathered themselves together… for the singers had built villages for themselves about Jerusalem.” Nehemiah 12: 27-29
THE REVIVAL IN THE PHILIPPIAN JAIL.
“And when they had laid many stripes upon them, they cast them into prison, charging the jailer to keep them securely. Who, having received such a charge, thrust them into the inner prison, and made their feet fast in the stocks.
"And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them. And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were opened, and every one’s bands were loosed.” Acts 16: 23-26.
THE EVERLASTING REVIVAL IN HEAVEN.
“And I saw as it were a sea of glass mingled with fire: and those who had gotten the victory over the beast, and over his image, and over his mark, and over the number of his name, stand on the sea of glass, having the harps of God.
"And they sang the song of Moses, the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying: ’Great and marvelous are the works, Lord God Almighty: just and true are Thy ways, O King of the saints.” Revelation 15:2-3.
DEAR CHRISTIAN FRIEND…UNTIL THAT DAY WHEN EVERY CHILD OF GOD SHALL JOIN IN THAT EVERLASTING SINGING "REVIVAL" IN HEAVEN…WILL YOU, IN THIS LIFE, LIFT YOUR HEART AND VOICE SINGING PRAISES TO GOD?
