The Sin Of Sin

Summary: We have all heard the sayings...If you mess with bull, you'll get the horns or if you play with fire, you'll get burned. But we continue to play with sin.

Romans 6:1-2-What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? Certainly not! How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it?
Some people think that Christianity is just a big list of…Do Not’s but there so much more to it than that!
DON’T
You shall not make for yourself a carved image (Exodus 20:4)
You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain (Exodus 20:7)
You shall not murder. (Exodus 20:13)
You shall not commit adultery. (Exodus 20:14)
You shall not steal.(Exodus 20:15)
You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor. (Exodus 20:16)
You shall not covet your neighbor’s house (Exodus 20:17)
Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body (Romans 6:12)
Do not present your members as instruments of unrighteousness to sin (Romans 6:13)
Those (Do Not’s) are not there to hinder you, they are there to help you!!
There are people who got down all the (Do Not’s)….They don’t drink, they don’t smoke, they don’t curse, they don’t go with girls that do!
But neither does that tree outside! So what are you doing!
DO’S
We ought always to pray (Luke 18:1)
We ought to wash one another’s feet. (John 3:14)
We ought to obey God rather than men. (Acts 5:29)
So husbands ought to love their own wives as their own bodies (Ephesians 5:28)
Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. (1 John 4:11)
The list goes on……
Justification-Many people think that means to justify their actions….Why they do this and why they do that! Self-justification
If we would quit justifying ourselves and start judging ourselves, we could get right with God!!
Luke 10:25-29-And behold, a certain lawyer stood up and tested Him, saying, “Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?”
He said to him, “What is written in the law? What is your reading of it?”
So he answered and said, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind, and ‘your neighbor as yourself.’” And He said to him, “You have answered rightly; do this and you will live.”
But he, wanting to justify himself, said to Jesus, “And who is my neighbor?”
The lady who felt burden to go down to the altar, and prayed, “Lord, if you want me to go to Africa, I’ll go.” The Lord said, “No, I want you to go to Africa, I want to get right with Susie right here in the Church.” She prayed again, “Lord, if you want me to go to Africa, I’ll go.” The Lord said, “No, I want you to go to Africa, I want to get right with Susie right here in the Church.” She said, “Lord, I would much rather go to Africa than to get right with Susie!”
Matthew 5:23-24-Therefore if you bring your gift to the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there before the altar, and go your way. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift.
It doesn’t say who’s right or wrong, or who started it, we Christians are the ones who are to make the first move. (The lady who wrote the pages asking for forgiveness, the other lady who wrote nothing and never came back to rest of the services)
2 Chronicles 7:14-if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.
We can not ask to forgive our sins, if we are not willing to forsake our sins
The problem with us many times we want to point out someone else’s sins rather confess our sins!
The lady who went to a psychiatrist and had bacon laid over each ear and a fried egg sitting on the top of head and said to him, “I’ve come talk to you about my brother!”
Romans 7:15-For what I am doing, I do not understand. For what I will to do, that I do not practice; but what I hate, that I do.
Sins of Omission-Those things you ought to do, that you won’t do!
James 4:17-Therefore, to him who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin.
Sins of Commission-What are you doing that you know you should not be doing?
They were having a prayer meeting and everybody had prayed except this one guy and the preacher called on him and the guy said, “I can’t!” “Why, what’s wrong?” asked the preacher and the man replied, “Can’t think of anything to pray about!” Preacher said, “Well, then confess your sins!” The man replied, “Can’t think of any?” Preacher said, “Get down there and guess at it!!!” He got on the very first one!
