The Seven things that you must do in the Spirit of God
Galatians 5:16
The Holy Spirit is the 3rd person in the triune Godhead. In the triune Godhead, you have three distinct person that makes up one God. These three persons are co-equal, co-eternal, and co-existent in one God. And these three persons are God the Father, God the Son (Jesus Christ), and God the Holy Spirit. These three persons are one in God, and the Holy Spirit is the third person in the triune Godhead.
A person receives the indwelling of the Holy Spirit into their heart the very moment that he or she believes and receives Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior. And when a person receives the Lord Jesus Christ into their lives, there are at least seven things that we must do in the Spirit of God.
1.The first thing that we must do in the Spirit of God is to be filled with the Spirit.
Ephesians 5:18 says, “Be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess but be filled with the Spirit.
2.The second thing that we must do in the Spirit of God is to walk and live in the
Spirit
Galatians 5:16 says, “This I say then, Walk in the Spirit and ye shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.”
Galatians 5:25 says, “If we live in the Spirit, let us walk in the Spirit.”
3.The third thing that we must do in the Spirit of God is to pray in the Spirit.
Ephesians 6:18 says, “Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints.”
4.The fourth thing that we must do in the Spirit of God is to worship in the Spirit.
John 4:24 says, “God is a Spirit, and they that worship him must worship him in Spirit and in truth.”
Phillipians 3:3 says, “For are the circumcision, which worship God in the Spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh.”
5.The fifth thing that we must do in the Spirit of God is to love in the Spirit.
Romans 5:1-5 says, “Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ; By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in the hope of the glory of God. And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also; knowing that tribulations worketh patience; And patience experience, and experience , hope; And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed aborad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost, which is given unto us.”
Colossians1:7-8 says, “As ye also learned of Epaphras our dear fellowservant, who is for you a faithful minister of Christ; who also declared unto us your love in the Spirit.
6.The sixth thing that we must do in the Spirit of God is that we must be led by the Spirit.
Romans 8:14 says, “For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
7.The seventh thing that we must do in the Spirit of God is that we must be fervent
fervent in the Spirit.
Romans 12:11 says, “Not slothful in business; fervent in Spirit; serving the Lord.”
Now, to be fervent in the Spirit means to be excited in the Spirit of God. You ought to be excited about serving the Lord because He woke you up this morning, put food on your table, clothe on your back, and a roof over your head.
You ought to be excited about serving the Lord because He is the one who saved your soul, healed you when you were sick, delivered you out of trouble, and washed all of your sins away.
You ought to be excited about serving the Lord because He is such a good God, such a loving God, such a merciful God, such a gracious God, such an awesome God, such a caring God.
You ought to be excited about serving the Lord to the point that you can’t help but start praising the Lord, for He has brought you from a mighty long way. You will start praising Him for what He has done in the past, for what He is doing right now, and what He will do in the future.
Psalm 100:1-2 says, “Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands. Serve the Lord with gladness(excitement, joy, happiness); come before his presence with singing.”
Now to be able to filled with the Spirit, to walk and live in the Spirit, to pray in the Spirit, to worship in the Spirit, to love in the Spirit, to be led in the Spirit, and to be fervent in the Spirit, you first of all must be born of the Spirit.
