Summary: In Chapter 15 of Revelation we see the preparation of the last seven plagues that will be poured upon the world in the great tribulation.
The Seven Last Plagues
Revelation 15:1-8
As the tribulation comes to a close John visualizes the kingdom of God to come in all of His glory.
In the last several chapters we have studied the workings of the satanic trinity and its influence on the world that will eventually lead to the final conflict called Armageddon and here John reflects on the final plagues of God and the scene in heaven as it unfolds.
1. The Sign
Vs.1 And I saw another sign in heaven….
This is the third sign given from the two previous signs in Chapter 12
See: Rev. 12:1-2 the woman with child
And: Rev. 12:3-4 The dragon and his followers
This third sign is the finality of an ongoing conflict that started at the rebellion of Satan.
2. The Saints
See: Vs.2 Them that had gotten victory over the beast…
Notice what they are doing
• They are Standing
They are not fallen but in the position of an overcomer! “They have gotten the victory”
See: Ephesians 6:13 “And having done all to stand”
• They are Singing
“The song of Moses”
See: Exodus 15:1-3
Mention: Psalms 118:14 The LORD is my strength and song; and is become my salvation
• They are Speaking
Vs.3 saying great and marvelous are thy works, LORD God Almighty, thou King of the saints.
You say, but I thought these are those that were slain in the great tribulation and that is true but they were not succumbed to the things of this world.
Mention: Rev. 6:9 These that had been slain
Then: Rev. 7:14 These are those who came out of great tribulation
In the song of Moses the nation of Israel stood on the other side of the Red Sea and song because of their victory over Egypt. These are standing on what is described as it were a sea of glass.
Mention: 1 Cor. 15:54 Death is swallowed up in victory Vs.57 thanks be to God which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
3. The Saviour
Mention: Vs.3 the King of the saints
See: Vs.8 The Temple was filled with smoke from the glory of God, and from His power and no man was able to enter into the temple.
Mention: Vs.5 the Temple of the tabernacle of the testimony in heaven seems to indicate that there is a heavenly counterpart to the earthy temple
Rev. 11:19 The temple in heaven
See: Exodus 40:34-35 Moses here could not enter in the tabernacle because of God’s glory
And: Isaiah 6:1, 4 His train filled the temple…and the house was filled with smoke
See: Rev. 15:4 for all nations shall come and worship before thee…
See: Psalms 72:8-11
Isaiah 60:6 They bring gold and incense
Mention: Phil 2:9-11 every knee shall bow and confess He is Lord
4. The Seven Angels
The seven angels are the last of the three series of seven angels in which God uses to judge the earth in the great tribulation. We previously have discussed the seven seals, seven trumpets and bow the seven vials
See: Vs.6-7 The vials are full of the wrath of God
