Psalm 91 The Secret Place

1. The Surety of the Secret Place -

1 He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High

It's Rest - He that dwelleth -

Hebrews 4:9 There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.

There is a place of quiet rest, Near to the heart of God,

A place where sin cannot molest, Near to the heart of God.

It's Reality - in the secret place - Matthew 6:6

Found In Person - But thou,

In Practice - when thou prayest,

In Privacy - enter into thy closet

In Privilege - and when thou hast shut thy door,

In Prayer - pray to thy Father which is in secret

In Profit - thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly

It's Regality - of the most High - 1 John 3:1 Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.

2. The Serenity of the Secret Place - shall abide

3. The Sovereignty of the Secret Place

It's Provision - shall abide

It's Position - under the shadow

It's Protection - of the Almighty

4. The Sufficiency of the Secret Place -

2 I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.

Four different names for God are used here ie. - The Lord is -

1. El-Elyon, “The Most High God”: His Possession - the possessor of heaven and earth.

2. El-Shaddai, “The Almighty God”: His Provision - He is the giving God.

Jack the Huckster sang I am a poor sinner & nothing at all, but Jesus Christ is my all in all.

3. Jehovah, “The Lord God”: His Promise - Yahweh, it means the Great I Am, Eternal - Hebs 13:8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.

4. Elohim, “God the Creator”: His Power - Luke 1:37 with God nothing shall be impossible.

5. The Security of the Secret Place - 3 he shall deliver thee -

From Deception - 3 from the snare of the fowler,

From Disease - and from the noisome pestilence.

v 10 there shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.

From Danger - 5 Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night;

From Death - nor for the arrow that flieth by day;

From Destruction - 7 A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.

From Distraction - 11 For he shall give his angels charge over thee,

to keep thee in all thy ways. 12 They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.

Jude 24 Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy, 25 to the only wise God our Saviour,

be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.

From The Devil - 13 Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder:

the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet.

6. The Supremacy of the Secret Place -

It's Commitment - 14 Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him:

I will set him on high, because he hath known my name.

It's Covenant - 15 He shall call upon me, and I will answer him:

I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him.

It's Contentment - 16 With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.
