Secret of Multiplication

1. Multiplication starts in the heart (John 6:6 “He Himself knew what He was intending to do”)

a. Are you a Phillip or Andrew?

i. Phillip always needed hard facts and calculations, the analytical disciple

ii. Andrew had:

1. positive faith

2. possibility faith

a. Phillip saw the wilderness

b. Andrew saw Jesus in the wilderness

iii. Jesus was expecting an expression of faith and he got a recital of facts

1. ex. Men are too hard to get, people are too busy, this is New York

a. when you focus on facts and not faith, you will always feel overwhelmed

2. Analytical disciples:

a. See the situation, not the solution

b. More concerned about the odds against them than those for them

c. Calculate only for a bare minimum

b. Jesus had multiplication already in his heart

2. Nothing multiplies until it is in the hand of Jesus

a. It is his touch that brings the multiplication

i. WHAT YOU ARE WILLING TO SURRENDER DETERMINES WHAT YOU WILL RECEIVE

1. The prayer God will not refuse (Hannah Principle): God will give to you what you vow to dedicate back to him

a. She was barren, gave that child, and God multiplied it “Then Eli would bless Elkanah and his wife and say, ‘May the Lord give you children from this woman in place of the one she dedicated to the Lord.’ And they went to their own home. The Lord visited Hannah; and she conceived and gave birth to three sons and two daughters.” ( I Samule 2:20-21)

2. Luke 18:28-30 “Peter said, we have left our own homes and followed You. And He said to them, Truly I say to you, there is no one who has left house or wife or brothers or parents or children, for the sake of the kingdom of God, who will not receive many times as much at this time and in the age to come, eternal life.”

a. Jesus was saying “I will multiply all you give me”

i. What you have is not insignificant

b. Some of you have a few fish…dedicate it to the Lord and God will multiply your fish

i. Andrew gave Jesus a couple of fish and bread and God gave him twelve the twelve (baskets)

1. fish – souls

2. bread – resources

a. There will be more than enough resources for your twelve

b. "The work of evangelism is never complete until the one evangelized becomes an evangelizer."

~ Dr. Herschel Hobbs

c. The vision of multiplication will test your heart

i. It will show you how much are you willing to trust God for

1. Phillip wanted everything to be calculated

a. The vision will lead you to frustration or transformation

i. The bread transforming is the goal of all of our ministry: TRANSFORMATION

1. What are you doing when you make a home visit, pre-encounter, encounter, sol, one to one discipleship

3. Multiplication will happen when you have compassion in action

a. Mark 6:34 “When Jesus went ashore, He saw a large crowd, and He felt compassion for them because they were like sheep without a shepherd; and he began to teach them many things.

i. The miracle of multiplication began when Jesus was move by compassion

1. there is no commission with out compassion

4. Consolidation is key to Multiplication

a. 6:12 “that nothing be lost”

i. what was he trying to teach us here?

1. In 6:39, the next day Jesus says, “that of all which he (the Father) has given me I should lose nothing”

ii. Notice that each of the twelve had the same responsibility

5. Clear goal vision

a. What is a goal?

i. Goals are a statement of faith

1. you show me your goals, and I will show you how far your faith is going and growing

2. Jesus has a goal of feeding 5,000

b. Goals should be based on what we believe God can do, not what we think we can do

i. You have not really believe God until you have done something that can’t be done in the flesh

1. Phillip only set his goal to what he thought he could do

ii. A LEADER NEVER OUTGROWS HIS GOAL VISION

c. Phillip had low goals because he was not a risk taker

i. The unfaithful servant in Matthew 25 was not a risk taker

1. Satan’s greatest tool against leaders: fear of failure

a. Satan’s favorite words: you can’t do it

b. YOU ARE NEVER A FAILURE UNTIL YOU GIVE UP

i. Vision people say “Impossible, possible, done”

d. SEEING PRECEDES POSSESSION (Remember Abraham)

i. Stop calculating what you can’t do, and start committing to what God can do

1. YOU DON’T MAKE DREAM AND VISIONS, DREAM AND VISIONS MAKE YOU
