Summary: 2 Timothy 3:14 says, “But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them.

2 Timothy 3:14 says, “But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them.” When we think of “learning”, many times we associate it with education or school. To learn is to acquire knowledge of or skill in by study, instruction, or experience. Life is a process of learning. When I was a teenager, I thought there was nothing else to learn, because I thought I had all of the answers. After a few years have passed and maturity has come, I realize now how little I did know then. I have been learning all of my life in the school of life. After 50 years there are still lessons that I need to learn. Learning will continue until I graduate.

I. There Are Lessons To Learn- There are three main ways we can learn as we are enrolled in the school of life.

First, by experience (Gen.30:27). In that verse Laban says, “I have learned by experience.

Secondly, by example (1 Cor.10:11). Learn from those who did right and emulate them; learn from those who did wrong, and avoid their mistakes.

Thirdly, by expression. By that I mean what the Word of God says to us (Psm.119:130).The Bible can keep you out of trouble if you will heed its words.

II. There Are Mistakes To Make- I do not know a person who has not made some mistake on an assignment in their school work. No one is perfect. The great thing to know that just because we have failed, that failure is not final. You can recover from failure. Elijah failed God miserably when he went to the brook, in fear of Jezebel, there asking God to take his life from him (1 Kings 17). You should not intentionally make mistakes in life, but if you do there is a God Who forgives and restores (1 Jn. 1:9). Keep in mind by God’s help you can rebound and recover from failure in your life.

III. There Are Days To Attend- You can not lay out of school all of the time and be successful. Compare Hebrews 10:25.

IV. There Are Grades To Earn- Grades are a reflection of what a person has earned. Compare 2 Cor. 5:10 and see rewards given.

V. There Is A Teacher To Heed- No one can teach us like Jesus can. He is not like any other teacher (Mk. 1:22).

VI. There Is A Graduation To Expect- See 2 Cor. 5:6-8.
