The Saints Of God

"Unto the church of God which is at Corinth, to them that are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all that in every place call upon the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both theirs and ours:"

"To the saints and faithful brethren in Christ which are at Colosse: Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ." (1 Corinthians 1:2, Colossians 1:2).

You are called to be saints.

A saint is someone living a holy and godly life in Christ. The NLT Bible uses godly or holy people in place of saints in the KJV.

Paul in his epistles referred to fellow believers as saints (Ephesians 1:1, Philippians 1:1). Saints are not rich believers or apostles or bishops only, neither does the term refer to selected dead believers alone. Every believer in Christ, living a holy and godly life is referred to as a saint, both living and those that died in Christ (Matthew 27:52). The believers in Jerusalem that were passing through a difficult period were referred to as saints. Other believers had to contribute resources for their welfare and needs. "For it hath pleased them of Macedonia and Achaia to make a certain contribution for the poor saints which are at Jerusalem" (Romas 15:26).

1 Corinthians 6:2 says, "Do ye not know that the saints shall judge the world? and if the world shall be judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters?" Paul here addresses the believers in Corinth as saints. You are saint if you are born again and living according to the will of God for your life. You are declared a saint by the word of God and a saint you are. In Ephesians 3:8, Paul referred to himself as the least of the saints, "Unto me, who am less than the least of all saints, is this grace given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ."

"Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light: (Colossians 1:12).

There are saints both in heaven and on earth. This is supported by David in Psalms 16:3, "But to the saints that are in the earth, and to the excellent, in whom is all my delight." The Holy Spirit also makes intercession for the saints: "And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God" (Romans 8:27).

We are chosen and called to be saints by God in Christ Jesus. Psalms 50:5 says, "Gather my saints together unto me; those that have made a covenant with me by sacrifice."

God has called you out of sin into his marvellous light, to be a saint unto him, do not go back to sin because God will not be pleased. Live you life as a saint of God on earth. Let the light of God shine in you and through you. "I will hear what God the LORD will speak: for he will speak peace unto his people, and to his saints: but let them not turn again to folly (Psalm 85:8).
