Summary: Is the lord your rock??

>>THE ROCK<<

Scripture; 1Cor.10:4

The Bible teaches here that the rock in the wilderness was Christ.

Ex. 17:6

Mosses is told to smite the rock to get water.

Water makes up most of our body. If gone with out to long we will die. So here is an urgency for water. The people and animals need it to live.

Num. 20:8

Here Mosses is told to speak to the rock.

Though in unbelief Mosses goes to the rock instead of speaking he hits it twice.

The rock that is smitten the first time is a representation of the crucifixion.

Speaking to the rock shows the power that the church has been given.

Num. 20:10

One can tell by the action of Mosses that he was fixing to do wrong.

Up to this point it looked like he would follow the word of God .

Hear now, ye rebels; must we fetch you water out of this rock?

In this it shows the sin.

rebels - to resist any authority or controls.

Fetch- To draw, to bring or to bring again, draw out, to cause to appear.

Here the sin is manifested greatly.in anger and self-gratification he smites the rock.

In this action God still gives the children of Israel the water the need. But God was angry with Mosses and Aaron because of unbelief and they did not give the credit to God.

Num 20:12

And the LORD spake unto Moses and Aaron, Because ye believed me not, to sanctify me in the eyes of the children of Israel, therefore ye shall not bring this congregation into the land which I have given them.

Sanctify-To separate, set apart or appoint to a holy

The rock in both cases produce water.

Joh 7:38

He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.

Joh 4:6 the woman at the well, you will never thirst again.

Christ tells this woman you will never have to go to the well to draw the water of God again if you receive me. Ask! Not only that out of you will flow this living water.

If something is living it will grow.

If Christ lives in you he will grow.

Water is a necessity for life. All life needs it to live.

Christ being that rock in the wilderness he is also our source of water. That makes him our source of life.

If Christ be in you the water will flow out of that rock.

We must keep in mind he is the stone that the builder rejected.

Though a stone he was and is still rejected by most.

But on that rock the church is built. Nothing of this world or from hell can penetrate it.

Ex. 20:1

The Ten Commandments are set in stone

This means they are in Christ. If Christ be in you then in you. Not only the ten but all!

Mat 21:44

And whosoever shall fall on this stone shall be broken: but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder.
