The Ultimate Decisioncr

August 1, 2014

When I was a teenager I used to work at camp in the summer as a counselor. Yeah I know me as a counselor I should have been the one counseled. One afternoon we were having a softball game. One of the counselors who was the quarterback on the football team was pitching and I was catching. Between innings we would throw it hard back and forth till the teams were ready to play again. The plate was getting dirty so after a pitch I motioned for him to stop, that I was going to sweep the plate off. Well, the next thing I hear is this loud crack on the right side of my head. Then the pain after that was excruciating. He did not see me tell him to stop so his fastball hit me right on my ear. Actually the surgeon, yes surgeon said that the ball hit perfectly, shut off all the air and shattered my eardrum. There was blood coming out of my ear and the hole in the eardrum was so big they had to put a fine sterile paper in the hole to then make it grow the drum again. Have you ever heard the saying, "Wrong place at the wrong time”?

In my life and I was usually at the wrong place at the wrong time except for November 29, 1992. That was the evening I thought I was turning on the comedy channel but instead got a Christian Channel. Evangelist David Ring shared the gospel and for the first time I heard the good news of Jesus and how to be saved. That night I was in the right place at the right time. I put my faith and trust in Jesus Christ and my life has never been the same.

How about you? Has anyone ever shared with you how you can know for sure if you are going to heaven? It is never too late to get a fresh start in life. Then not only have a fresh start but to have a secure future in heaven with Jesus. So many people stay awake at night worrying about career advancement at the cost of their soul. I pray that you will never trade what the best the world has to offer for the cross of Jesus.

If you want to make sure you are going to heaven you can know right now. Please read this and e mail me if you have made The Ultimate Decision. May the Lord prepare your heart today

The Bible was written so that we may know how to inherit eternal life.

1 John 5:13 “I write these things to you who believe in the name of the son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life.”

“If you were to die today and God were to ask you “Why should I let you into my heaven” what would you say”? Over the years I would have to say that 85% of the answers I get are “I have tried to be a good person, I have tried to be a good parent, I have tried to go to church and teach Sunday school and I have tried to give money to the poor.” The key words in all these answer are I HAVE TRIED. Instead of me telling you that answer is wrong I am going to tell you that I have good news for you and that is

“Heaven is a free gift.” Romans 3:23 says that “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Now if someone were to give you a gift and you tried to pay even a penny for it then it would not be a gift anymore, would it? Of course not. But in this world we associate all good things with something that we either have to work hard for or sacrifice a lot to get. It is hard to wrap our minds around heaven as free. Well it is free to us but cost Someone His life.

A lot of people in this life try to do THINGS that would put them into a favorable position with Jesus. If I do _________ then Jesus should love me. Plus my life has had so many trials that God will take pity on me.

Ephesians 2:8,9 “For it is by grace that you have been saved, through faith, and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God, not by works, so that no one can boast.”

Here we see that God’s grace is what gets us into heaven but look at what Gods grace is. God says that no amount of works, not even ONE will get us into heaven. God does not want anyone to boast because of his works. So now you may be thinking “If I have done ALL these things over the years then how do I get in to heaven”?
