Summary: This is a verse by verse look at chapter eleven of the book of Revelation.
5. The perishing of the two witnesses – v. 7-9
a. When will they die?
– when they finished prophesying
b. How will they die?
– the beast from the abyss
*will make war with them
*will overcome them
*will kill them
c. What becomes of their bodies?
–Their bodies lie in the street – WHERE?
*The Great City
*Mystically called Sodom
*Mystically called Egypt
*Where the Lord was crucified – Jerusalem
- Their bodies will be viewed
*By all people – Tribes – Tongues – Nations
*For 3 ½ days
-Their bodies not permitted to be buried
Rev 11:10 (NASB) “And those who dwell on the earth will rejoice over them and celebrate; and they will send gifts to one another, because these two prophets tormented those who dwell on the earth.”
6. Reaction to the killing of the two witnesses – v. 10
a. Those who dwell on the earth
- Will rejoice
- Will celebrate
- Will send gifts to one another – WHY?

Rev 11:11 (NASB) “But after the three and a half days, the breath of life from God came into them, and they stood on their feet; and great fear fell upon those who were watching them.”
7. The raising of the two witnesses – v. 11
a. When will they be raised? – after 3 1/2 days
b. How are they raised to life? – the breath (Spirit) of life entered them
c. What did the witnesses do? – they stood on their feet
d. What is the response of those watching? – great fear
Rev 11:12 (NASB) “And they heard a loud voice from heaven saying to them, "Come up here." Then they went up into heaven in the cloud, and their enemies watched them.”
8. The witnesses ascend to heaven – v. 12
a. The witnesses hear a loud voice from heaven
- Come up here
- They went to heaven in a cloud
- Their enemies watched
Rev 11:13 (NASB) “And in that hour there was a great earthquake, and a tenth of the city fell; seven thousand people were killed in the earthquake, and the rest were terrified and gave glory to the God of heaven.”
9. The city experiences tribulation – v. 13
a. A great earthquake
b. 1/10 of the city falls
c. Seven thousand people die in the earthquake
d. The survivors
-are terrified
-give glory to God
“The second woe is past; behold, the third woe is coming quickly.” Rev 11:14 (NASB)
The Seventh Trumpet Sounds – Rev 11:15-19
Rev 11:15-19 (NASB) “Then the seventh angel sounded; and there were loud voices in heaven, saying, "The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of His Christ; and He will reign forever and ever." And the twenty-four elders, who sit on their thrones before God, fell on their faces and worshiped God, saying, "We give You thanks, O Lord God, the Almighty, who are and who were, because You have taken Your great power and have begun to reign. And the nations were enraged, and Your wrath came, and the time came for the dead to be judged, and the time to reward Your bond-servants the prophets and the saints and those who fear Your name, the small and the great, and to destroy those who destroy the earth." And the temple of God which is in heaven was opened; and the ark of His covenant appeared in His temple, and there were flashes of lightning and sounds and peals of thunder and an earthquake and a great hailstorm.
