THE RESSURECTION AND THE LIFE
In John 11:25
Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:
The only one who can give life must certainly be the one who has live himself. The very one who can ressurect the dead is the one who has the ability to resurrect from the dead.
No man is able to give what he does not have. Jesus has life and gives life. He is in creation and the creator himself.
In Genesis 1:26 God the Father said to the God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.
Genesis 1:26
And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
The Book of John 1:1 reconfirmed this creating ability in Christ when it says.
John 1:1-4 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
The same was in the beginning with God.
All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
Jesus is the resurrection and life because he himself has life hence can give life.
Surely, he is the resurrection. The Bible says in
1 Peter 1:3
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.
Jesus rose from the dead and so has the capability and ability to raise and resurrect the dead and all dead things in the life of any man.
In Mark 10:46-52 Jesus resurrected the dead eye of Lazarus.
The Bible says:
Mark 10:46-52 And they came to Jericho: and as he went out of Jericho with his disciples and a great number of people, blind Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, sat by the highway side begging.
And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out, and say, Jesus, thou Son of David, have mercy on me.
And many charged him that he should hold his peace: but he cried the more a great deal, Thou Son of David, have mercy on me.
And Jesus stood still, and commanded him to be called. And they call the blind man, saying unto him, Be of good comfort, rise; he calleth thee.
And he, casting away his garment, rose, and came to Jesus.
And Jesus answered and said unto him, What wilt thou that I should do unto thee? The blind man said unto him, Lord, that I might receive my sight.
And Jesus said unto him, Go thy way; thy faith hath made thee whole. And immediately he received his sight, and followed Jesus in the way.
Then again, there was a woman who suffered many things things in the hands of physicians but rather than made well became worst. Jesus resurrected her health in such a way and manner that with a touch, she was made whole instanta.
The account is recorded in
Luke 8:43-48 And a woman having an issue of blood twelve years, which had spent all her living upon physicians, neither could be healed of any,
Came behind him, and touched the border of his garment: and immediately her issue of blood stanched.
And Jesus said, Who touched me? When all denied, Peter and they that were with him said, Master, the multitude throng thee and press thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me?
And Jesus said, Somebody hath touched me: for I perceive that virtue is gone out of me.
And when the woman saw that she was not hid, she came trembling, and falling down before him, she declared unto him before all the people for what cause she had touched him and how she was healed immediately.
And he said unto her, Daughter, be of good comfort: thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace.
Haliluyah! The resurrection and the life wipes away tears by just contact and faith.
Jesus says in Matthew 11:28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
The greatest resurrection any one can get is rest, rest here on earth and rest hereafter.
There is a place where all resurrected in Christ will go and be rejoicing for ever more, a place where the street is made of gold, a place without pain without sorrow. The Book of Revelations describes it this way.
