INTRODUCTION

The resurrected Christ was taken up into heaven and sat at the right hand of God as He had finished His part in the plan of salvation. He left the responsibility of fulfilling the purpose of His death and resurrection in the hands of His disciples. Therefore the disciples went everywhere proclaiming the message of the resurrected Christ. We must be diligent in fulfilling our part in the plan of God for the salvation of mankind.

MARK 16:19-20

After the Lord Jesus had spoken to them, he was taken up into heaven and he sat at the right hand of God.

Then the disciples went out and preached everywhere, and the Lord worked with them and confirmed his word by the signs that accompanied it.

THE MESSAGE

THE RESPONSIBILITIES GIVEN TO US BY THE RESURRECTED CHRIST

*******************************************************************

1. BELEIVE ON CHRIST AND RECEIVE YOUR SALVATION

*************************************************************

Our first responsibility is to beleive on the Lord Jesus Christ and to receive His salvation. We must beleive in our heart in the death and resurrection of Christ and confess Him as Lord in order to be saved.

ROMANS 10:9-10

That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.

MARK 16:16

Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.

JOHN 20:29-31

Then Jesus told him, "Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed."

Jesus did many other miraculous signs in the presence of his disciples, which are not recorded in this book.

But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.

LUKE 24:46-47

He told them, "This is what is written: The Christ will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day,

and repentance and forgiveness of sins will be preached in his name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.

2. BE BAPTISED IN WATER AND IDENTIFY WITH THE DEATH AND RESURRECTION OF CHRIST

**************************************************************************************

We must be baptised in water to obey the commandment of the Lord. We identify ourselves with the sacrificial death and resurrection of Christ when we get baptised. We honour the Lord with our obedience to His command.

MATTHEW 28:19

Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,

COLOSSIANS 2:12-14

having been buried with him in baptism and raised with him through your faith in the power of God, who raised him from the dead.

When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your sinful nature, God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins,

having canceled the written code, with its regulations, that was against us and that stood opposed to us; he took it away, nailing it to the cross.

ROMANS 6:3-4

Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death?

We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.

3. BE FILLED WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT

*****************************************************

We must be filled with the Holy Spirit in order to be empowered to live for God. We are no match in our human strength to face the attacks of the devil or evil persons. We need the baptism of the Holy Spirit to overcome the trials and temptations of this world and to live a victorious life.

LUKE 24:49

I am going to send you what my Father has promised; but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high."

JOHN 20:22

And with that he breathed on them and said, "Receive the Holy Spirit.

ACTS 1:4-8

On one occasion, while he was eating with them, he gave them this command: "Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my Father promised, which you have heard me speak about.
