Summary: We can understand the relationship of the Church with the Father when we know their relationship one with the other.
THE RELATIONSHIP OF THE FATHER & SON: AS WITH THE CHURCH
Jn 6:37
I. THE FATHER GIVES EVERYTHING HE HAS TO THE SON
A. John 3:35 “The Father loves the Son and has placed everything in his hands.”
II. THEY WORK TOGETHER
A. 5:17 “said to them, “My Father is always at his work to this very day, and I, too, am working.”
III. DOES WHAT THE FATHER DOES
A. 5:19 “Jesus gave them this answer: “I tell you the truth, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does.”
IV. DOES NOT HIS WILL BUT THE FATHER’S WILL
A. 5:30 “I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me.”
V. WORKS WHAT THE FATHER HAS WORKED
A. 5:36 ““I have testimony weightier than that of John. For the very work that the Father has given me to finish, and which I am doing, testifies that the Father has sent me.”
VI. WHAT HE HAS THE FATHER HAS GIVEN HIM
A. 6:37 “All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never drive away.”
VII. HE DOESN’T DO ANYTHING BY HIMSELF
A. 8:28 “So Jesus said, “When you have lifted up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am the one I claim to be and that I do nothing on my own but speak just what the Father has taught me.”
VIII. THE FATHER NEVER LEAVES YOU BY YOURSELF
A. Jn. 8:29 “The one who sent me is with me; he has not left me alone, for I always do what pleases him.”
IX. YOU WILL DO WHAT PLEASES HIM
A. A. Jn. 8:29 “The one who sent me is with me; he has not left me alone, for I always do what pleases him.”
X. NOT SPEAK CARNALLY BUT SPIRITUALLY
A. 12:49,50 “For I did not speak of my own accord, but the Father who sent me commanded me what to say and how to say it. 50 I know that his command leads to eternal life. So whatever I say is just what the Father has told me to say.”
