The Reign Of The Lord Jesus Christ - Romans 13:14
Romans 13:14 But take up the weapons of the Lord Jesus Christ, and stop paying attention to your sinful nature and satisfying its desires.
I. Every Warfare Uses Weapons
II. What Are The Weapons?
III. Stop Paying Attention To Your Sinful Nature.
IV. Stop Satisfying Your Sinful Desires
I. Every Reign Uses Weapons
Be careful who to side with, there are 2 kingdoms on this world. We are of the Kingdom of Light. It's a war out there, and our weaponries are spiritual, it all takes place in the mind as the battleground.
2 Corinthians 10:4 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)
Jude 1:23 And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh.
Ephesians 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
Colossians 1:13 Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:
Revelations 16:10 And the fifth angel poured out his vial upon the seat of the beast; and his kingdom was full of darkness; and they gnawed their tongues for pain,
II. What Are The Weapons?
The weapons are: (Ephesians 6:13-18)
1. God's armor
2. Belt of truth
3. Breastplate of righteousness
4. Shoes ready to announce the Gospel
5. Shield of faith
6. Helmet of Salvation
7. Sword of the Word of God
8. Prayer
As most of these are all defensive weapons, only two of them are offensive: (a) God's Words , (b) Prayer wherein we can use to silence the enemy.
2 Corinthians 10:4 The weapons we use in our fight are not the world's weapons but God's powerful weapons, which we use to destroy strongholds. We destroy false arguments;
Ephesians 6:13 So put on God's armor now! Then when the evil day comes, you will be able to resist the enemy's attacks; and after fighting to the end, you will still hold your ground.
Ephesians 6:14 So stand ready, with truth as a belt tight around your waist, with righteousness as your breastplate,
Ephesians 6:15 and as your shoes the readiness to announce the Good News of peace.
Ephesians 6:16 At all times carry faith as a shield; for with it you will be able to put out all the burning arrows shot by the Evil One.
Ephesians 6:17 And accept salvation as a helmet, and the word of God as the sword which the Spirit gives you.
Ephesians 6:18 Do all this in prayer, asking for God's help. Pray on every occasion, as the Spirit leads. For this reason keep alert and never give up; pray always for all God's people.
III. Stop Paying Attention To Your Sinful Nature.
Stay away from sin so you will not do it. That's how simple it is, since we have been called to godliness.
Romans 1:26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:
Ephesians 2:3 Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.
James 3:6 And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell.
2 Peter 1:4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
IV. Stop Satisfying Your Sinful Desires
Ephesians 2:3 Actually all of us were like them and lived according to our natural desires, doing whatever suited the wishes of our own bodies and minds. In our natural condition we, like everyone else, were destined to suffer God's anger.
There are 2 desires here on earth, one of God and the other you know who.. Desire what God desires.
1 Peter5:2 to be shepherds of the flock that God gave you and to take care of it willingly, as God wants you to, and not unwillingly. Do your work, not for mere pay, but from a real desire to serve.
1 John 2:17 The world and everything in it that people desire is passing away; but those who do the will of God live forever.
Hebrews 6:11 Our great desire is that each of you keep up your eagerness to the end, so that the things you hope for will come true.
